How do you calculate cost per engagement?

Quick answer

Calculate cost per engagement by dividing the total cost of a post or campaign by the engagements it generated, likes, comments, saves and shares. A lower cost per engagement means you paid less for each real interaction, which makes it a clean way to compare creators.

I want one number to compare creators on value for money. How do you calculate cost per engagement and is it a fair way to compare?

Spend divided by total engagements. It turns wildly different fees into one comparable unit price, which is exactly what you want for a roster.

Cost per engagement is straightforward: take what you paid a creator, divide by the total engagements their post produced, likes, comments, saves and shares. Pay a creator 500 dollars for a post that gets 2,500 engagements and your cost per engagement is 20 cents. It turns a fee into a unit price you can line up across very different creators.

It is a fair comparison precisely because it normalises for size and price at once. A big creator with a huge fee and a small creator with a modest one can be judged on the same scale, what did each real interaction cost. It exposes how a cheaper micro creator with high engagement beats an expensive big name on value.

The catch is that engagement has to be real for the number to mean anything, a low cost per engagement built on bought engagement is a mirage. Flinque pairs engagement data with a fake-follower score, so the engagements you are pricing are genuine before you do the math.

Cost per engagement favours the micro creators. High engagement on a small fee beats a big name with a big invoice and thin interaction.

Only trust it if the engagement is real. A gorgeous cost per engagement built on bots is just a cheap way to buy nothing.
