What is a good engagement rate on Instagram?

Quick answer

A good Instagram engagement rate depends on size: roughly 1 to 3 percent is solid for mid-size accounts, under 1 percent is weak and nano and micro creators can clear 3 to 6 percent or more. Smaller engaged audiences beat big quiet ones, so judge the rate against the follower tier.

I calculated a creator engagement rate but have no idea if it is any good. What is a good engagement rate on Instagram and how do I judge it?

Judge it against size. Two percent is good on a huge account and mediocre on a tiny one, so the same number means different things.

There is no single magic number because engagement scales inversely with size. A rough benchmark: under 1 percent is weak, 1 to 3 percent is solid for a mid-size account and anything above 3 percent is strong. Nano and micro creators routinely run higher, 3 to 6 percent and sometimes well beyond, because small tight communities interact more.

So always read the rate against the follower tier. A 2 percent rate is respectable on a 500,000-follower account and underwhelming on a 5,000-follower one. This is exactly why a creator with 20,000 highly engaged followers can be a better buy than one with 200,000 disengaged ones, the smaller account is doing more with its audience.

Benchmarks are a starting point, not a verdict. Pair the rate with a fake-follower check, since a suspiciously clean rate can hide bought engagement. Flinque shows the engagement rate and an authenticity score together on every profile, so a good-looking number comes with proof it is real.

Smaller accounts should post higher. If a nano creator is sitting at 1 percent, that is a warning sign, not a normal reading.

A rate that looks too perfect deserves a second look. Pair every engagement benchmark with a fake-follower check before you trust it.
