He came into this world missing a hand. I came into this world with a hole in my heart, literally. Doctors fixed mine. He fixed his own, with words.
Same birth month, Same Date. Different years, different cities, different stories. But somewhere in the universe's grand blueprint, we were always meant to collide.
I first found Laksh Maheshwari, through a screen, at 2am, when I was the kind of lost that doesn't show on your face but eats you alive from the inside. He wasn't talking to me. But every single word felt like it was for me. That night, something cracked open. Not broke, opened. There's a difference, and he taught me that.
I started telling stories because of him. Not on a stage. Not for a career. Justโฆ because I finally understood that the things I had survived deserved to be said out loud.
And then Today: Kahaniyo Ki Kahaniya, Pune. I sat in that room and watched him do live what he had once done to me through a phone screen at 2am. The man paints emotions with words the way others can't even feel them. By the end, no one spoke. We were all just sitting there, quietly holding our own hearts.
After the show, I got a few minutes with him. I didn't say any of this to his face, obviously. I panicked and probably said something deeply embarrassing like "Sir aap bahut achha bolte ho." ๐๐ฝ Very smooth. Very articulate. Clearly the storytelling is still a work in progress.
But here's what I wish I had said:
"You told me that the things we're born missing are not our tragedies. They're our stories. And you were right. My hole healed. But the story it left behind? That one, I'm still telling."
He came into this world Single Handedly.
I'm just glad I found him before I forgot how to speak.
