Anyway, my virtual presence is here to let you know that my physical presence ain’t playing around in 2026🙂↕️Sooo much has been quietly culminating, as it must when the world burns.
The short answer is that your work as a storyteller doesn’t begin and end with your project. At every step, including the application and packaging process, your aim is to make the audience (ie, reader) feel what you’re feeling and care about what you care about.
I’ll be talking about what that looks like on the application with some successful examples. If you’ve ever hit me up with grant questions, here are all the answers I have compiled into 90 minutes!
You know where the link is;)
Part of that just looks like sharing some of the things swarming around in my mind more consistently, even when they’ve just begun to ground themselves into something tangible. I really think this is a responsibility we have and owe to one another. I owe my voice, so here it is (but I gotta use my face to lure you in 😝)
A very short and sweet read/listen, an excerpt from a recent journal entry that made its way onto my substack publication, Deep Witnessing (in my bio).
Sn: I’m in New Orleans for another week and would love to see some familiar faces before I bounce ✨
I’m grateful for this reminder of who I am in quiet, rural places… a kid who likes running around in the forest, hopping up logs, and taking longs walks along the levee. I did some writing here and plenty of feeling. The latter of which wasn’t always pleasant at this level solitude, but damn was it necessary. This space has held me through several of the numerous transformations these past few years have presented me with. It has seen me grow and grow… It feels good to be in a place that knows you.
January - June
thank you for the opportunity to explore being seen on the other side of the camera. and what a privilege it is to be seen by you!
The Excavate the Wound series ran twice virtually alongside some one-off live workshops with UCLA Extension and at New Orleans Film Festival.
I’ve met some brilliant folks and received the most affirming responses to these workshops and the gathering spaces they provide.
I’m holding these affirmations close to my heart because I was so nervous to launch this platform. I worried that people wouldn’t value the emphasis on inner work and self excavation as a part of storytelling in lieu of traditional writing workshops, of which there are thousands if not millions. But build it and people will come, and they will be the right people.
So this is my big ole’ thank you for every participant, every amplifier of this work, and everyone whose given me a platform to carry it out. Thank you for rocking with me! The work continues and the well goes deeper in 2026.
From here on, I’ve opened books for one-on-one coaching sessions tailored to your story or your voice. You can learn more about them at.
Beyond that, I’m excited to share a lot more resources and written work on the online platforms (Instagram and Substack) in the coming year, to host some unique in-person gatherings and story circles, share new digital offerings, and to bring back the Excavate the Wound Series later in the year.
Stay connected to see it all unfold. And if you’d like to seed the vision, your donations are welcome. Just pop on over to the website.

I wouldn’t be a filmmaker without this space and all the love and mentorship that has been poured into me throughout these past years. I maybe wouldn’t have some of the lifelong friends that I do.
Things change in this world, and even faster in this moment. I don’t know what the future brings but I hope the VALUES and the passion that has created this space and made it so recognizably distinct amongst the festival landscape continue to be of service to this beautiful city and its creative community, and to celebrate independent film and its makers.
This world needs you bad right now, even if it doesn’t know it.
I’m inspired and energized by the artists I’ve met this past weekend who have made a fan out of me. Mostly, I’m just grateful to be enveloped by the love of my community here. We gone always be alright ❤️
