I first got this advice from my rugby coach when I was a sophomore in college.

I had just broken my nose seriously for the first time, and we were on the car ride back from the hospital in Denver. I was in between playing second side and first side throughout the season and wanting to improve.

And I asked him point blank, "Hey, how can I play more A-side next year?"

And he responded with, "God gives everyone gifts. It's your responsibility to figure out what yours are."

When I heard it the first time, I was 19, and as most 19-year-olds are, the opposite of humble, I dismissed it.

And the older I've gotten, the more I realized how much truth was in that statement.

That in a world where it's so easy to see what everyone else is doing, the most effective thing to do is to look inside and see what God has blessed you uniquely with, and how you can develop those gifts.

There's a big difference between having the gift and developing the gift. You can have the talent of speaking well, but that doesn't make you articulate.

Only through practice and repetition can you truly develop that into something that is world-class, even if you have a lot of potential in it.

So I challenge you: what is something that you know you have God-given potential in that you have not developed? What is one small action you can take today to develop that gift?
We had our first child in January!

Its been the most meaningful period of my life and also the one with with worst sleep and recovery in years.

These are what I’ve found to be most helpful even with waking up multiple times per night.

If you don’t have a kid, I guarantee one of these will help you sleep so deep you wake up a different person.
Entrepreneurship is a long game. Make sure not to overlook your fitness.

One of the biggest takeaways from this week is how being intentional with both training and nutrition has allowed me to have more energy, more focus, and better digestion throughout the day.

And this is somebody who has prioritized health and fitness for a long time, but it's pretty impactful just how much that extra little bit goes a long way in feeling better during the day, making better decisions, and even showing up for the team with more energy and more effectiveness.

So if you are not prioritizing your training and nutrition, and you are an entrepreneur, I would highly recommend doing so.

Overthinking is an excuse for inaction.

It becomes this self-perpetuating loop where you're constantly overthinking everything you're doing so much so that when you look back on your progress, it is negligible at best

You think that there's this perfect path that needs to be taken. And if you step one foot off the path, you're doomed. When in reality, life is a dynamic system

Meaning that there are so many things going on around you that it is impossible to predict how the combination of those things will create your result

Rather than thinking that you need to identify the perfect path, just be intentional with the path that's already in front of you. In doing this, I think you leave space for life to emerge and opportunities to come from that

Because one thing is assuredly clear: If you don't do anything and you just think the entire time, then nothing different will emerge from your current situation, and you'll be stuck there.

For professional athletes the best ability is availability.

We often don’t think about that as knowledge workers because you’re “always on.”

But how much of that time are you focused, engaged, and doing quality work.

I remember being at Uber and hating sitting at a desk all day.

Honestly I think I spent 1-2 hours a day just thinking about how bad my hips and low back hurt from just sitting in meetings all day.

I was 30 years old and felt like I was 80.

From there, I would go to the gym and train more like a powerlifter and a bodybuilder than training for the thing I actually wanted to be good at, which was doing quality work for a growing tech company.

Rather than just taking a general approach to your training, I would recommend that you start training like a digital athlete.

If low back or hip pain is preventing you from doing quality work, changing your approach to the gym to fix those issues so you’re more comfortable doing the things you enjoy.

One of my primary focuses for doing 75Hard was to improve my resilience so that I could work 8-10 hours a day of high-quality work for building a fast-growing startup.

So if you want to improve your energy, focus, and resilience to grow your company or get a promotion and fall for more.

75 Days of 2 workouts, drinking 1 gallon of water, reading 10 pages, taking 1 progess pic, and sticking to a diet.

The reason I’m doing this is simple: I want to operate at full capacity, consistently, each and every day.

Recently I’ve been okay with “good enough” in critical areas of my life.

Physically, I’ve worked around nagging hip and shoulder injuries for months rather than addressing them head-on.

I’m lean, but I’m not in peak physical condition. And I am unable to consistently do dynamic activities that I enjoy, such as sprinting, running, and jumping, without fear of injury.

In business, while we’re operating well—running a growing advertising company with a software company on the side for fun —I know we’re nowhere near our true capability.

As a leader and product builder, I’ve let things slide that shouldn’t slide and tried to do other people’s roles rather than holding them to a high standard.

This challenge represents a consolidation point—a moment to stop accepting these compromises and pull every area of my life up to the standard it should be at.

More than that, it’s about understanding a fundamental truth: you cannot achieve peak mental performance without peak physical performance.

Pumped for the next 75 days.

If you are a founder or knowledge worker who wants to operate at peak capacity every day then follow for more.

Stop feeling 65 when you’re 35.

Here are three exercises I’m using to think clearer and feel better during the day.

As a founder, I used to think back pain was just part of working hard. Long days building my company meant dealing with that afternoon lower back ache and feeling stiff every time I stood up.

Then I learned the real problem: it’s not your back. It’s your hips.

Why these 3 moves work:

Low Box Step Down → This specifically improves internal rotation - the ability to rotate your thigh inward that you lose from sitting. When you can’t internally rotate, your knees and back take the hit.

Dragon Lunge → Another internal rotation builder that opens up the hip capsule while stretching those chronically tight hip flexors. This combo is gold for desk workers.

Cable Split Squat → Does an awesome job opening up the hip flexors on your rear leg while the cable forces you to sit back into your hips. This takes massive strain off your low back by getting your hips to do their actual job.

How I use them: Strength training isn’t just about building bigger muscles - it’s actually the best way to improve mobility and build physical resilience at the same time. I dedicate part of every training session to these moves. They’re not just warm-ups; they’re the foundation that makes everything else work better.

Your brain works better when your body doesn’t hurt. You need to be at 100%, not pushing through pain all day.

Follow for more ways to stay strong and focused without letting your desk job wreck your body.
Over the next three months, my goal is to get down to sub 10% body fat and improve my general athleticism.

This was day one of the training which is going to focus on improving movement, coordination and sequencing so that when I express athletic movement skiing, hiking, and running that I feel more tied together.

A big push, for this was reflecting on the things that I actually want to do outside of the way room, and starting to look at the gaps in my training in my performance from there.

One of them is coordination and movement and sequencing my movements correctly.

This has been a small issue this year in skiing, we’re on easy terrain. It’s pretty easy to navigate, but on steeper, terrain and double blacks, it’s harder for me to separate upper and lower body and that’s leading to not being able to perform as well as I want to.

So if your goal is to lose body fat and get more athletic and follow along for more training nutrition.
Day two of training for the trifecta. Dunking, deadlifting 500#, and running a sub five minute mile on the same day.

One of the big focus areas of today’s session as an upper body session is dynamic trunk work.

The trunk - your abs, back, and shoulders - are what tied the body together and it’s amazing how little I trained them early on as an athlete.

I found the more I have trained bees and challenge them in different ranges of motion and different repetition and exercise styles, the better my athletic movements have felt.

So follow along to see me complete the trifecta.

And be sure to add some of this into your own training.

Not every day goes as planned! Gravity felt pretty strong today.

This is the challenge I’ve been doing for a few months now, but going to start documenting each day and its entirety in my journey to dunk a basketball, deadlift, 500 pounds, and run a five minute mile on the same day.

The goal with us is to push the bounds of human performance, and better understand what I am capable of and what I can do with the right training.

To my knowledge and nobody else has ever done this.
And I feel like the three provide an interesting challenge as they are all different in the ones of power, absolute strength, and V02 max conditioning.

Follow along the journey as you see me complete the trifecta and dunk, deadlift 500 pounds, and write a sub five minute mile in the same day.
