Yea, I drew about you a lot because you were a cartoon.
You always made me laugh and amaze. We grew up together from depression to the coolest, and you were my captain and I wanted to make a book about you.
Anyway, this is some album I wanted to share with my friends because it’s Rudy’s birthday today. ( and coincidentally, June 4th is also “a day of cavities” or “a good teeth day” in Japan that my grandfather and his team named in 1928 by pun on a word.) anyways.

NYと京都を拠点に平面作品を多く発表してきた下條ユリが、初のリサーチをベースにした滞在制作を試みました。織物の街、一宮で出逢い、感じ、想像した少女たちのストーリーをもとに、作品の一部を地元の人々とともに制作し、地域の記憶や気配、そして過去と現在を織り交ぜたサイトスペシフィック・インスタレーション「女工さん｣* の初恋を紡ぎます。
mh PROJECT presents First Love: Homage to the “Factory Girls”* by Yuri Shimojo, a painter based in New York and Kyoto. This project marks her first research-based residency. In Ichinomiya, a city renowned for its textile heritage, Shimojo encounters, senses, and imagines the stories of female factory workers. Drawing from these narratives, she will create part of the work in collaboration with local residents, weaving together regional memory and atmosphere, and interlacing the past and present into a site-specific installation.

Rudy became a spirit on Wednesday February 8 ♾️ 2023
He lived a grand, extraordinary life for almost 15 years.(14 and 8 mo. )
This is LOVE I want to share.
In the spring of 2021, Rudy was diagnosed with suspected cancer and would not live long. Considering his age, I decided not to give him aggressive surgery. Instead, I canceled our trip to Kyoto to spend the precious time of his final days at home together. That’s when I was reminded of my overdue health checkup; as a result, I found my early-stage breast cancer.
Last week my cancer treatment was completed with reconstructive surgery. Rudy reached the limit at the same time. I had to make the hardest decision to let him be free from his body because he kept having seizures. His transition was surrounded by love. He made us all cry and somehow smile, even in the circumstances.
Not only did Rudy save my life, his indomitable life force pushed beyond his diagnosis and stayed by my side to protect me for almost two extra years. Old, blind, and deaf Rudy had always been alert to ensure I was ok during the heavy cancer treatments. Rudy’s medical team were astonished by his miraculous strength and described him as an absolute warrior.
I hear and feel him everywhere. Our home is empty without his cartoony existence, and time passes painfully slowly without our routines and rituals. It had always been my biggest fear to imagine my life without him because no matter what happened in the last 15 years, I was ok with holding Rudy. Now I must start a new chapter with his spirit within me.
Two weeks ago, Rudy passed me a message
“Hey, this is not ending. This is the beginning of unlimited possibilities.” It was real.
After all my human family’s death, I must admit this is the most painful grief I have ever experienced. The grief is overwhelming me. However, I embrace profound warmth somewhere deep in the bottom of my heart.
We promised each other that we would be together forever.
