In just two short days, I tried to share my experience, cycling network, and a bit of Japan’s cycling culture before sending him off to his next adventure.
He’s aiming to reach Osaka on October 16, riding through Lake Inawashiro, Minamiuonuma, Nagano, Kamikochi, Takayama, Shirakawa-go, Toyama, and Fukui along the Sea of Japan.

一昨日、イギリスから来日して北海道・稚内からバイクトリップをしている、才能にあふれたキラキラした好青年が僕のワークショップに立ち寄ってくれました。
開口一番、「日本人は本当に優しいね」と話してくれたのですが、僕は「それはあなた自身が優しい人だからだよ」と伝えました。日本人がみんな優しいわけではないので。
田舎に行くと英語を話せる人は少なく、翻訳機があっても不便なことは多いと思います。だからこそ、この二日間という短い時間でしたが、僕にできること、そして自転車を通じて得た人脈や経験をできる限り伝えて、次の旅へ出る彼を見送りました🚴♂️
彼は10月16日に大阪に到着予定で、明日は猪苗代湖へ。その後、南魚沼を経由して長野や上高地、高山、白川郷、富山、福井に立ち寄りながら、日本海沿いを南下して大阪を目指すそうです。

9月はアメリカ、ヨーロッパ、オーストラリアからのお客様を迎え、2週連続で東京から京都までのサイクリングツアーをガイドしました。

ツアー参加者の中には女性版ツールドフランスで総合TOP10に入った方がいたり、僕も走った2010年にオーストラリアで行われた世界選手権でTOP10に入った元選手がいたり、僕が選手時代過ごしたオランダからのお客様がいたり、4名の方は僕が2012年に走ったツアーオブカルフォルニアにて通過した場所に住む方がいて、話には困らず助かってます😄
ツアーガイドの仕事なので、下調べはある程度したわけですが、通る町の歴史や、朝晩の食べるご飯の説明とか、さまざまな質問に答える仕事は僕が思っていた以上に楽しく、新しい発見の毎日を過ごしています。
そして、引き続きこの様な仕事をやって行きたいなと思う感情が芽生えている自分に気がつきました😊

イタリアで乗った時はサイズが46.5で、今回からは500にしましたが全然違う。
足回りはカチッとしていて、レーシングカートを乗っているかのよう。
前作Fに比べると、バイクからライダーへ伝わる情報はとてもクリアでとてもわかりやすい。(路面から伝わるバイクの挙動の変化等)
ライダーのスキル次第ではよく進むが、身体の柔軟性が必要で、ペダリングスキルをかなり求められるバイクだと思います🤗
