The Omni Parker House is Boston’s oldest continuously running hotel - and has seen so much of the city’s history.
If you’re wondering where to stay in Boston, this spot is only a 5 minute walk to the Boston Common right in Downtown, and also a short distance from both Back Bay and Fanueil Hall.
The Omni Parker House was originally the Parker Hotel before being acquired by the Omni franchise - and it’s in its kitchen that the famous Boston Cream Pie (not actually a pie, I found out) was invented.
Since the hotel is also super close to the State House, it also has really close ties with famous political figures throughout the years and many US presidents have actually stayed here.

The building screams Boston history like no other, and the rooms have been renovated to bring modern comfort to the mix.
Plus there are also two places to eat inside the hotel, Parker’s Restaurant (must-try, and The Last Hurrah Bar, which is fully decorated during Christmas).
And if you go all the way to the bottom level, they have a history gallery showing all the famous people and events that took place in the hotel.
Needless to say, this Boston hotel is WICKED cool!

Starting with Copley Square hotel, Boston’s second oldest!
This hotel has deep roots in the 1950’s jazz cutlure in Boston and if these walls could talk
- they’d probably sing.
Not only is it super charming, but it’s also a 10/10 in terms of location and within walking distance of Newbury Street, the Prudential Center, Trinity Church, and Boston Public Garden.
Prices range from $120-250 (cheapest during the winter and peaks during the summer).
It’s on the more affordable end of Boston hotel pricing, and it’s a staple piece of architecture in the city’s skyline.

Nicknamed the “White Heron Castle,” its bright white walls and sweeping rooflines were designed to look like a bird mid-flight — and honestly, she delivers.
What makes Himeji so iconic is that it’s one of the few original samurai castles left in Japan.
It survived wars, earthquakes, fires, AND WWII bombings completely untouched, which is why it’s now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and considered Japan’s #1 castle.

Deer just roaming around like they pay rent & cute little coastal streets… and then suddenly you see that torii gate casually floating like it owns the whole island.
The wild part?
The gate actually “floats” because the entire Itsukushima Shrine was built over the water.
Back in the 1100s the island was considered so sacred that people weren’t allowed to disturb the ground, so they literally created a shrine that sits on top of the tide.
Architectural drama + religious symbolism = iconic.
And honestly… Miyajima just hits different. Peaceful, dreamy, a little magical — the kind of stop you don’t plan for but end up obsessing over.

Welcome to Senso-ji Temple — Tokyo’s oldest temple and one of the most visited spots in Japan. Built over 1,300 years ago, destroyed multiple times (including during WWII), and still rebuilt to perfection every single time. Talk about architectural resilience.
That iconic red you see everywhere? It’s not just for the aesthetic — in Japanese culture, vermilion red wards off evil spirits and represents vitality.
Which might explain why this temple still radiates pure main-character energy. 🔥
Walk through the Kaminarimon (Thunder Gate) — home to a massive lantern that weighs almost 1,000 pounds — and you’ll feel like you’re stepping into a living painting.
Then comes Nakamise Street, one of Tokyo’s oldest shopping lanes, leading up to the main hall surrounded by incense smoke, carved dragons, and centuries of craftsmanship.
As an architecture girlie, what I love most about Senso-ji is how every rebuild honors the original 7th-century design — proof that Japan doesn’t just restore architecture; it preserves identity through design.
