Taner Yazıcı, 9 Şubat 1973'te Gemlik'de doğdu. Gemlikli olan sanatçı Müziğe orta öğrenim yıllarında aldığı gitar dersleriyle başladı. Orta öğrenimini tamamladıktan sonra, Marmara Üniversitesi Güzel Sanatlar Fakültesi Sinema ve Televizyon Bölümü'ne girdi. Üniversite öğrenimi sırasında müzikten vazgeçmeyen Taner, ilk profesyonel tecrübesini çeşitli barlarda yaptığı sahne çalışmalarıyla kazandı. Solo performansını bu yıllarda geliştirdi.
1996'da Raks Müzik'e ait S Müzik ile anlaştı ve ilk albümü "Affetmedim Kendimi"yi 17 Haziran 1998 tarihinde çıkardı. Albümünde Garo Mafyan, Zeynep Talu ve Seda Akay'la çalıştı.
2001'de Universal firmasının S Müziği devralmasıyla ikinci albümü "Aşk Mazi Oldu"yu Universal etiketiyle piyasaya çıkardı. Bu albümünde Fikret Kızılok, Metin Özülkü, Ali Güven, Burak Kut ve Niran Ünsal gibi müzisyenlerle çalıştı.
Askerlik hizmetinin ardından müzik yaşamını konserlerde, barlarda ve özel organizasyonlarda sahne alarak sürdüren Taner, 19 Şubat 2010'da "Gönüllü" adlı teklisini Ossi Müzik etiketiyle piyasaya çıkardı. "Gönüllü" ve "Karagözlüm" şarkılarının yer aldığı teklide Erol Özdamar, Cihan Konuk, Emre HC, Murat Uncuoğlu ve Töre Cengiz'le çalıştı.
