And once again, the world saw what we’ve always known…
Wrestling isn’t just the most dominate sport, it’s the foundation for all physical activity.
Netflix gathered the most physically fit Asian athletes from eight nations—Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Türkiye—and stacked them against each other in physical challenges with a cash prize of over $700,000.
Wrestlers that were invited on the show included Olympic bronze medal winners and world champs Nonoka Ozaki from Japan and Yasemin Adar Yiğit from Turkiye and Jang Eun-sil from Korea.
In addition to the Olympic freestyle and Greco-Roman, there were also traditional Mongolian, Korean, and Turkish oil wrestlers, but no matter the style—one thing rang true throughout the early part of the series—wrestlers showed that no matter the arena—with mental toughest, discipline, resilience, endurance and strength—wrestlers will prevail.
I don’t want to give away too much about the first half of the series, but episode one is an introduction to all the athletes, then it’s the Ozaki and Adar show starting from episode two on—with both world champions going toe-to-toe with each other on Episode 3—SHIPWRECK.
