First time shooting with Sony cameras only. Felt a bit weird after all this time but worked very well. FX9 and FX3 are super easy to match!
We had a bit of a problem finding a good location for the interview, so we ended up shooting in this very small boxing room. It was lacking depth but luckily the installed mirrors helped out, but also made it very challenging to set up much gear without being in the frame.
For lighting we used a standard COB light with a lantern softbox and the room’s LED lights worked as a fill light to the shadow side. I would have liked the overall look to be a little more dramatic and soft, but there wasn’t really much of an alternative with the short amount of time we had. For a final touch we put a few props in the background to go with the theme of the story.
Color grade done in DaVinci Resolve and Dehancer Pro. Added some fine grain for texture and feel.

Brand videos often tend to be a little boring and formal, so we wanted to add some spice and character to it by using a few different angles at the start and end of the video that had the ‘behind the scenes’ look to break out of the usual brand video vibe.
Basic lighting setup with a COB light and a lantern softbox. Blocked off most of the ceiling lights with a flag and added a bounce board to give some fill to the shadow side of his face. (We ran out of c-stands, so we had to get creative with the grip 😆) Lastly we set up a little spotlight in the background to mimic sunlight shining into the hallway.
Simple grading adjustments done in DaVinci. Added a bit more punch to the final image by lifting the skin tones, as well as smoothening and cleaning out the whites.

As usual not the most spectacular of lighting setups with just a casual cob+softbox combo and a smaller cob as side light. I was struggling with the framing of the b-cam quite a bit as the ‘Gervais’ sign in the back was slightly higher and I didn’t want to shoot from a lower angle, so in the end I decided to leave it out of the frame and went with a more centered angle, even though it doesn’t totally match with the framing of the a-cam.
It was my first time shooting on a Sony camera again since 2019. Still learning the camera, but autofocus is really a godsend for these run and gun docs. I had no clue what I have been missing out on the past few years 😆
Subtle color grade in DaVinci Resolve and Dehancer Pro. Mainly just cooled down the image, so it fits well with the rest of the footage and added a bit of grain for texture and feel.

Haven’t been sharing much lately on here, because I have been glued to the editing room with back to back documentary videos. It‘s been quite a grind, not gonna lie, but I’m thankful for the opportunities and trust that have been given to us.
I believe me and Felix (my business partner, but foremost my friend) have grown a lot since starting our own production company nearly 2 years ago (how times flies). There have been a lot of wins but equally as many losses to be brutally honest. I think that’s part of the process when you’re trying to follow your passion and desire. I wouldn’t change it for anything else. Nothing comes overnight as they say ☀️
Looking forward to sharing more of our work real soon, because that’s what I love most about what we are doing 🎥

Went with an overhead lighting setup, because it fit nicely with the mood of the scenery. Maybe another light for the right side of the background would have been nice to add more depth to the shot.
