暑さと少雨で心配していましたが、量は少ないものの、必要分は確保できそうなので、ホッとしています。
農家の方々が１年間かけて育てていただいた栗を大切に使いたいと思います。

低温冷蔵庫に少し寝かせ、糖度が上がったころから栗むきを始めます。
（これが大変なんです）
収穫は品種を変えながら、10月中旬ころまで続きます。

そんな暑い中、契約している栗農家さんのところにおじゃましてきました。
地元菊鹿の山品農園さんです。
きれいに整備されている栗園には、青々とし、けっこう大きく膨らんだイガ栗がたくさん実っていました。
昨年が豊作だったこともあり、今年の収穫量は、昨年の3分の2ほどになりそうとのこと。
山品さんは、85歳です。（後ろ姿のみ）
農家も生産性、効率を考える時代。
日々の仕事の中で、それを常に考えているという話をされていました。
そして、質へのこだわりもすごいです。
山鹿和栗がおいしいはずだと、あらためて思いました。
８月のお盆明けくらいから出荷が始まります。
いよいよ、栗シーズンがやってきます。
西日本一の生産量を誇る山鹿和栗🌰
これからも、農家の方の思いと一緒に、多くの人に伝えていきたいと思います。
