Nano’s are beginning to be heavily requested in my chair, and one reason is the re-usability factor, but you could be jeopardizing just how easy they are to reuse if you make this small mistake.
With nanos, they’re designed in a way where the tip can be trimmed down slightly, to create a comfortable and more invisible looking install. As tempting as it is to trim them down a lot, this can make it really difficult to reinstall over time, and more importantly lead to the whole install sliding out.
If the tip is cut down too much, it’s difficult to get enough surface area for the bead to grip onto and secure. That then leads to the extensions being more likely to slide out when brushing, washing, or even if they get snagged in a bag strap etc.
To avoid this, be sure to only cut off a small amount, or honestly avoid entirely if you’re not sure. Here’s a guide to how much I usually take off, and I find it to be the perfect amount.

Your tools and pressure that you apply are so important when it comes to nanos, the bead is tiny, meaning they’re more delicate than an I-tip bead.
When removing I use the little hole on my pliers to make sure the bead pops open easily and doesn’t crack on the natural hair (making it sooo difficult to remove). If you’ve ever seen the bead do this or even cut the natural hair then you need to invest in pliers that help you, not hinder you.
I also find using a high quality beads eliminates these problems too, cheap/flimsy beads are the bane of the extension world!

First things first, there’s always going to be a different way of doing this kind of install, and a lot of it comes down to preference.
One thing you can decide is whether or not you want to place the nano tip under the natural hair on top, here’s the pros/cons:
Under: looks seamless, harder to detect in hair, more time consuming to install
On top: quick to install, easier to do if you’re just starting out, more visible in the hair
In terms of growout, whether you do under or on top, it won’t affect the overall install or growout, it’s more aesthetics.
Nanos can be ‘moved up’ like a weft, or reinstalled every time. The maintenance can range between 4, 6 or 10 weeks.

• it’s still the method where application wise I can do the quickest, I can easily do a full head of these in 30-40mins
• they lay super flat, probably flatter than a weft or k-tip, so ideal if your client is looking for a really slick point of attachment
• they can be versatile, I utilize single sided tapes a lot, especially on my fine haired clients
• the maintenance can go anywhere between 4-8weeks, and a full removal and reinstall is done each time, ideal for clients that like to keep up with root touch ups, Brazilian blowouts etc.
• cost wise they’re pretty affordable, my tape in quotes tend to always be at the lower end of my pricing spectrum, so they’re great if you have a budget
• they’re actually a great method for clients with fine hair, I’ve converted a lot of clients onto tape ins, and the difference has been incredible. If they’re maintained regularly (for fine hair I recommend 4 weeks), their hair will flourish.

• the darker bead will always look the most natural
• always match to the root, never the ends
• if they’re a blonde do they have a slight root or is their colour blonde to the root the majority of the time (i.e. global bleach)
• line up your colours on a pin tail comb and pick out the colour that blurs into the hair
