WORKSHOPS 2026 | “Low-Tech Editions: Field Notes” with

At Boisbuchet, where landscape and daily life offer a constant source of stimuli, printed matter becomes a tool for recording and translating these experiences into physical form.

In this workshop, participants will explore the relationship between observation and publication. Working within a walking radius of the Domaine, they will collect material from the site: notes, sketches, recordings, and other forms of field documentation. These observations will become the starting point for a series of small printed publications. Each participant will produce an edition of at least three publications, developed through a combination of analogue reproduction techniques.

Processes may include MiScreen™ silkscreen, cameraless photography, direct exposure, carbon transfer, Tetrapak intaglio, contact printing, kitchen lithography, and photogenic drawing. Participants are encouraged to adopt a fully analogue approach, allowing the physical properties of materials and processes to guide the outcome.

It is an honour for me to contribute this work to
‚Eulogy - Eduardo Chillida 100th Anniversary‘
an exhibition in Donostia / San Sebastián, Basque Country, commemorating the centenary of the birth of Eduardo Chillida, one of the most universal and influential artists of the C 20th.

It was important for me to avoid making a pastiche of Chillida’s work, yet at the same time I wanted it to directly reference his oeuvre through its materiality and form. Slide 4 is a scan of a small, perforated oxidised steel plate that gave me the idea for my piece. I found the discarded object (perhaps part of a machine from the early C20th?) rummaging around my friend Wolfgang’s metal workshop in Neukölln, Berlin.

The final piece works both as an abstract composition of positive/negative space (characteristic of the Basque artist’s work) which the viewer might also interpret as a „c“ representing „Chillida“ and „c“ (100 in Roman numerals) or „cien“ (100 in Spanish).

The typography is Neue Haas Grotesk Display 65 Medium.

As a proud northerner I am super excited to be heading to the NORTHERN DESIGN FESTIVAL in Lancaster, UK 17—19th May. The event is a student-led initiative, bringing together northern creatives.

So much respect for Antonia Arbova 3rd year BA Hons Design student at Lancaster University and her amazing team for organising this wonderful initiative.

On Saturday 18.05 I will join a panel discussing ‘The Value of Design in the Fight for Climate Change’. There are many free events taking place over the weekend, but tickets are limited and disappearing fast…

If you are in the vicinity whether you are a student or a professional working within the field of design or just interested in trying to make the world a better place, place support this important event.

More info:
Excited to be heading next week to GETXO, BILBAO in EUSKADI (Basque Country) to give a talk at Festival. Then on to BARCELONA via MADRID / then LANCASTER via MANCHESTER to participate in a student-led initiative, bringing together northern creatives. Looking forward to bumping into some cool folk along the way…

Just made this quick DIN A4 announcement for Earth Day: Cable gathering/swapping/recycling tomorrow at ABK Stuttgart where I teach.

If you are a teacher or student, why not spontaneously organise some Earth Day stuff tomorrow? For example: Clothes/Books/Wool+Yarn/etc. Swaps. Please DM me if you would like a link to what we have planned in Stuttgart, Germany.

When I had the idea to celebrate World Earth Day by setting up a day of action/reflection about the environment I had no idea if there would be any interest. Currently 85 activities will take place around our campus tomorrow. I have reserved all spaces again for 2025.

Thanks to all students and staff for their participation —gonna be a long night setting things up!
