Here are photos of the Wawona Swinging bridge trail in Yosemite National Park. Under the Trump administration Yosemite is facing severe risks due to massive staffing cuts, potential privatization, and dangerous conditions during government shutdowns. 25% (around 1000 employees) of the staff was cut in early 2025 which caused sewage issues and increased search and rescue operations. Not only TSA but also our park rangers dealt with working without pay. This Earth Day lets remember the importance of taking care of the Earth, especially the younger generations, as WE are the ones who will deal with the environmental impacts for years to come. Also never forget all the indigenous people working persistently around the world who make sure to take care of the earth and stop greedy people from damaging more of it.
I am grateful I get to do research on Environmental Justice for work, and had the honor to attend Yosemite through a research retreat by UC Irvine.
