I never chastise my students about getting hurt unless I know they were being negligent and then you no longer welcome in my class. All those injured made a full recovery. Middle school and tools is hard, but I go back every day and preach safety.
My hard rules
🚫Always wear safety glasses
🚫Never leave your hair down
🚫Never use something reusable (drill bits, blades, handsaws) on wet glue
🚫If it’s less than 8, throw it away, cutting small pieces is dangerous (for middle schoolers)
🚫Ignore anyone who is talking to you while you’re using a tool

It made me miss my life before. I like being in front of the camera. Not because I think I’m pretty or to show off. Let’s be real, I struggle daily with being “good enough”, “thin enough”, “attractive enough”.
I REALLY love talking about making and sharing how fun it is. When they say action. I don’t think at all about looks. Only about what I know.
My students ask me why did I decide to teach full time. I need a constant dopamine high. Even though the internet will have you believe that I was always jet setting across the country. Sometimes I was gone for two months at a time and then home doing nothing for a month.
My life only works if I am always busy, always making, always talking. Always contributing to someone else’s life. Healthy? I don’t know, but it sure does make me happy.
And uh, Netflix you’re the only network I haven’t been on. Just saying. 📞 I’m available in the summers.
