I’ve been going thru so much lately in my life, I’ve been in a really dark place. It’s been hard to find the strength to keep going.
I ended up calling a mental health/suicide hotline and had a pretty deep conversation with the angel on the other end… she had mentioned to me something about the ‘Dark Night of the Soul’ and after researching it, I think I understand why it is that feel the way that I do. The dark night of the soul is a stage in personal development when a person undergoes a difficult and significant transition to a deeper perception of life and their place in it. This enhanced awareness is accompanied by a painful shedding of previous conceptual frameworks such as an identity, relationship, career, habit or belief system that previously allowed them to construct meaning in their life.
I’ve pretty much lost everything that I had going on in my life and am stuck with the sense of feeling lost with no direction, no meaning or purpose. I’m also far away from most of my loved ones which makes everything even more difficult. I’m homeless, flat broke, heartbroken, and traumatized by my past. I ball my eyes out everyday and I don’t even know why anymore, I’ve never been so vulnerable and I constantly can’t stand the way that I feel. It seems like there are so many people out there suffering just as much as I am or even worse. There is no light at the end of the tunnel, only more darkness! How the hell do I get thru this?! This is not a cry for help, but rather just a small window into my life.
