The red lines pictured here are designed to lead visitors into Winston-Salem's first art-themed park, ARTivity on the Green. Imagined by Art for Art's Sake, designed by, and built by, the park is the result of local initiative and collaboration and is meant to celebrate the city's vision as being a home of art and innovation. The park is situated on Liberty Street in between the Wake Forest Innovation Quarter and the Arts District. It pays homage to the city's history of industry through the thirteen vertical red towers, the Tower Cloud, that represent the Reynolds Building, now. During the warmer months of the year the red towers produce a fine water mist that mimics factory smoke stacks. The park also contains a performance shell of seven steel bands, an ever changing mural wall, and lots of green space ready for picnics and festivals. Reynolda Hall, pictured here with #WaitChapel in the background, is a hub of campus life at. Reynolda Hall is named for the famous country house of Richard Joshua and Katharine Smith Reynolds; the building houses two dining halls, The Pit and the Magnolia Room, that are popular destinations for lunch and dinner fare. In addition to campus dining options, students visit Reynolda Hall for academic support and advising. The first floor Green Room provides students with a centrally located place to study or meet up. Reynolda Hall is one of a number of campus buildings named for members of the Reynolds family. The Z. Smith Reynolds Library and the Reynolds Gymnasium are other examples.

Wake Forest University is situated on land that was part of the original Reynolda House estate. After the end of World War II, R.J. and Katharine's daughter Mary Reynolds Babcock found a way to relieve the tax burden on the estate. She offered a small Baptist college in Wake Forest, Wake Forest College, 350 acres of land if they would move their campus to the This arrangement helped her and her husband, Charles, keep a family estate and gave Wake Forest College land in which to grow into the university it is today.

According to, the tallest building in downtown Winston-Salem has sold to an Oklahoma City real estate developer.
The 34-story Center, located at 100 N. Main St., sold for $62 million to WFC Property LLC, according to a Monday October 15th filing with the Forsyth County Register of Deeds.

Has anyone seen this #blastfromthepast recently? Bonus points for naming the business that currently shares Rock-Ola's old address. No, the Rock-Ola café is not reopening here in Winston Salem! This #billboard located near the corner of First and Liberty overlooks 80,000 daily travelers on the Salem Parkway (Business 40) and has recently been stripped down to its first ever advertisement. The Rock-Ola café, before it closed some years ago, served American traditional fare (think cheese fries) and featured a classic rock and roll styled theme.

In the foreground of this photograph you can see construction equipment being used on one of Winston-Salem’s historic buildings, the Pepper Building. The Pepper Building is an Art-Deco style building built in 1928 and designed by the legendary architectural firm of Northup and O’Brien. The Pepper Building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2014, and will see new life in the form of the Indigo Hotel which aims to be open to the public in the fall of this year.
