What an honour it is to be included in the debut issue of World of Miniatures Magazine, in the company of so many brilliant artists and collectors. This digital magazine is a treasure trove of mini delights and talent and it’s breathtaking! A very special thank you to and for inviting me to contribute my gardener’s sink with fresh blooms to the floral-themed Tiny Treasures Showcase. And for all of their behind the scenes work and passion that made this possible!
A nod to artist and “chair of bowlies” legend whose artwork hung in my small son’s room back in the 90s. And also my hopeless love of tiny ceramic bowls!

Some more plant romance: real Apple blossoms and Basket-of-Gold (Aurinia Saxatilis) in a pot by and polymer clay tulips in a pot by and daffodils in my own pot.
Annnnd suddenly an entire year has flown by since I’ve popped in here. I hope you’re all really well! At long last, I’m feeling the stirrings of creativity and just in time for the beginnings of Tiny Flower Season aka Spring!

A few months after I began making miniatures (six years ago now) I started introducing fresh flowers into my scenes. As a long time gardener, I’d always been drawn to tender shoots and tiny details. And once I began thinking in 1:12 scale, I became enamoured with tiny flowers that were right at home in the smallest of vases. And you know how that goes … I began noticing miniature blooms growing everywhere — in my own garden, in laneways, meadows and woodlands, in the cracks of sidewalks and by the roadside. I didn’t have any polymer clay flowers in my collection at that point—and certainly hadn’t learned to make any yet—so using real flowers was a fun, spur of the moment idea. Like all fresh flowers, their beauty is impermanent; it’s fleeting. And because of that, I love these little beauties even more.

I’ve discovered that if you gently flex the petals of an apple blossom bud, it resembles a tulip. The apple blossoms above are paired with forget-me-nots in a pot made by the lovely.

Another peek at my fantastic Jane Graber vase with fresh Barberry, but with the addition of the most tiny, impossibly detailed teacup and saucer made by Esha. Into the weekend we go …
A little plant romance in the dollhouse, past and present …
Today’s rain put a sudden halt to my gardening, so I quickly snipped some sprigs of barberry, brought them inside, and popped them into this miniature jug made by Jane Graber. It’s a long weekend in Canada, so a visit to the garden center tomorrow will inspire Sunday’s gardening plans!
I’ve had these images saved for a few days so time to share these tiny blooms. A ginger jar made by the phenomenal filled with forget-me-nots, ground ivy and creeping speedwell. I have Sarah to thank for the gorgeous confit pots and much of the pottery that fills this cabinet, along with pieces by and. And some polymer clay daffodils in an aged pot with fresh gold-dust (“basket of gold”) flowers, perched on a stool made by the kindest friend, George OH! And he hand painted the bottles and jug made by that are sitting in the basket!
With enormous thanks to, I found the most wonderful dollhouse treasure in the most unlikely place! I have so many ideas in store for this house — a house that I wasn’t even looking for, but it seems she found ME. My plan is to take this renovation slowly and intentionally as the house transforms from a traditional Tudor to a Cotswolds stone cottage, where old and new design elements co-exist happily. Stay tuned for more!

Jacqueline's interiors are evocative of Brambly Hedge - which I love - the cosy interiors are beautifully designed and photographed. They always make me smile.

I got a set of Derwent Chromaflow pencils for Christmas and am experimenting with different paper and techniques.
