Every December I start the process of my New Year’s resolution listing my goals for the upcoming year. Most often, I’m very detailed and group them into three categories: business, personal and well being. By January 1st, I’ve edited and finalized this list. As I started this process this December, I came across on my IG.
What is about? Simply that. A group of 19 Buddhist monks and one dog are walking 2300 miles, from Texas to Washington D.C. They are on day 69 of their journey. They are simply walking through the nation just for peace. They do not expect anything in return.
So I realize now that peace is never on my New Years list. Everything else gets on it: love, success, creativity, friendship, well being, compassion and empathy but never peace. I figure subconsciously that everything on my list will lead me to peace. So what is peace, I wonder? Oxford dictionary has two meanings. 1. Freedom from disturbance; tranquility 2. A state or period in which there is no war or war has ended. And as many of you know I like to dissect meanings and I have a lot to say about the definitions given about peace but… in a nutshell, peace is being described as a symbiotic relationship to disturbance and war. Peace is categorized as a noun in Oxford. But peace is not a thing. Peace is a practice. Peace is a state of being. And I realize now that my New Year’s resolutions of the past meant really to practice peace. I think in order to have love, success, friendship, health and compassion, you have to start with peace. Peace is the root and all other things on my list are the stems and flowers that grow from that root. Peace is the root and also at the same time, the completion of all these things. Peace is a full circle.
So this year, for myself and for friends, for everyone, I simply wish you peace. WLA loves you.
Shop is open today. We will be open 11-3pm New Year’s Eve and closed 1/1/26 New Year’s Day.
Happy New Years everyone!!! WLA loves you!

There are those people who you think you will see again at the next flea market and then the next one where you take a couple of minutes to say hello and chat a bit. It’s a ritual that you think will continue to happen every month and then you realize not again and that the last time was the last time. I heard from a mutual friend that David was creating until his last day. Of course he did.
Rest well David but keep creating up there. Thank you for your unbelievable talent. And can you check in on me every once in a while?
“Diane, we aren’t ready to lose you. You’ve left us with a trail of fairy dust, filled with particles of light and memories beyond imagination.
How do we say goodbye? What words become to mind when your heart is broken? You never liked praise, so humble, but now you can’t tell me to shut up, honey. There was, and will be, no one like you.
You stole the hearts of the world and shared your genius with millions, making films that make us laugh and cry in ways only you could. I was blessed to make First Wives Club with you, our days starting with coffee in the makeup trailer, laughing and joking, right through the very last day of filming. It was a roller coaster of love.
We agreed to grow old together, and one day, maybe live together with all our girlfriends. Well, we never got to live together, but we did grow old together. Who knows, maybe in the next life. Shine your fairy dust up there, girlfriend. I’m going to miss the hell out of you.
My heart goes out to your beautiful children, Dex and Duke.
I love you. “
Rest in peace, Diane Keaton. You really did shape my girlhood. You said it was just fine for me to be a little different…a misfit, a tomboy defining her own womanhood and I am so grateful to you for teaching me that. I think that the world shifted the exact moment you exited it just as it did the exact moment you entered it.💙💙💙
