Springbank is one of the rarest whiskies in the world due to only distilling 264,000 litres per year and then dividing this amongst Springbank, Longrow, Hazelburn and Kilkerran.
This dram is an aged buttery dream of a whisky. We have tried a good amount of this.
The benefits of having a lower alcohol percentage in a bottle is being able to taste more of the whisky without the alcohol being in the front. For the percentage of 42.9% this is a reasonable spicy dram whilst keeping a fine balance between the cask and Springbank character.
TASTING NOTES
Nose: fairly light, with a dialled back funky side. Tangerine, lime, melon and yellow apple. Then broken branches and subtle minty ashes. Almonds and toasted vanilla. Later hints of tobacco leaves and leather too, with old oak. Rather subtle for this distillery, even considering the advanced age.
Mouth: The star of the show is butter. Very oily, with herbal notes (thyme, rosemary), herbal honey and yellow fruits. Melons, lime and ripe pears, with a hint of apple syrup, getting slightly tropical over time. Then light wood smoke, more tobacco and a hint of crushed mint leaves. Hints of butter biscuit and toast, nicely mixing in that fruity sweetness.
Finish: medium to long, with warming oak spice, lingering smoked herbs, orange oil and subtle drying tobacco.

Made from 100% malted barley and aged for 3 years in bourbon barrels, this single malt is neither chillfiltered nor colored to reveal a fresh and elegant profile with floral notes.
Yamazakura Single Malt is distilled in a very limited number of batches by the Asaka distillery. Traditional in the making, it is distilled, blended and aged to perfection to bring out a smooth and delicate whisky.
TASTING NOTES
Yamazakura Asaka 2023 reveals a complex, delicate nose, with nuances of plum, wildflower honey and bourbon vanilla. Fruity and sweet aromas blend harmoniously, creating a seductive olfactory experience. On the palate, it reveals a velvety, gourmand texture, with pronounced notes of orange marmalade, vanilla and French toast. Flavors blend with subtlety, creating a complex, balanced palette. The finish is smooth and persistent, leaving rich, slightly spicy cereal notes and hints of candied fruit on the palate, a warm conclusion that prolongs the pleasure of tasting.

One of the rarest bottles of whisky around obtainable at a reasonable price from the era of Rosebank prior to the closure. One of the darkest things we have ever seen.
This is bottle number 9 of 180.
TASTING NOTES
Since so few people got to try this and NOT drink it, thankfully Serge on Whisky Fun reviewed it and also the reason it was bottled twice is due to 250 bottles being miniatures and 180 being full size bottles.
"Quite bizarrely, it seems that this cask was bottled twice. Once as a batch of 250 bottles, and once as a batch of 180 bottles. I had just loved the former (WF 93), let’s try the latter. A few more or less months in wood may have changed the profile. A bit… Colour: red coffee. Nose: just immense. It’s a perfect, dry and chocolaty sherry, with plenty of pipe tobacco and tarry ropes in the background. Rancio. Long story short, it’s extraordinary indeed.
With water: soy sauce, yeah! Cigars, yeah! Umami, yeah! Walnut wine, check! Mouth (neat): totally amazing, somewhat in the style of some old Glenfarclas. Prunes and bitter chocolate, many herbs, Jaegermeister, bone dry liquorice… It’s totally extreme, ultra-dry, and just perfect. Wasn’t it genuine amontillado wood? With water: oh cinchona, old bitter liqueurs, artichokes, old rancio, old walnuts… A style that I cherish. Finish: long, stunningly bitter and dry. The best bitter chocolate from Spain or Italy (they both claim they make the best ones – but that’s the French, obviously. Ha!) Comments: the only thing you could say against this astounding old sherry monster is that the distillery does not feel. Which is true. SGP:352 - 93 points."

Campbeltown Loch 30 Year Old Spirit Of Freedom Battle of Bannockburn Commemorative Release Blended Scotch Whisky (2014) 70cl
1 of 2014 bottles released to commemorate the 700th anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn bottled by J & A Mitchell or as everyone knows them, Springbank. This celebrates Robert the Bruce defeating the armies of the English under Edward II's much larger force in the shadow of Stirling Castle on 24th June 1314.
A large portion of the blend is Springbank.
TASTING NOTES
Nose: herbal and floral at first. Heather honey. Becomes wider and sweeter, with nougat but also slightly exotic fruits (guava, banana). Nicely waxy, with some coconut oils. Mineral touches as well, it’s easy to detect some Springbank in there.
Mouth: creamy and surprisingly fruity. Slightly exotic fruits indeed: pineapple, orange and papaya. Balanced herbal notes and waxed furniture. Vanilla. Honey. Pretty old-school, how nice to find this in a blend. Hardly any grainy notes.
Finish: long, some grains now, hints of oak as well, but also fruity sweetness.

TASTING NOTES
Color: Amber gold.
Nose: Fresh grapes, Green apples, Apricots, Cinnamon & Caramel.
Palate: Honey, Rich, vanilla and Caramel popcorn along with Grapefruit candy.
Finish: Grapefruit peel combined with Salted caramel

The East China Sea is calm in the summer, but the fierce winter winds whip up the sea waters occasionally, making for a unique climate within the warm Kagoshima Prefecture. The region is blessed with an abundance of crystal-clear groundwater, filtered and purified as it runs down the Shirasu Plateau.

TASTING NOTES
An intriguing melange of aromas excited the Panel. The scent of sandalwood and cedar was joined by well-brushed leather boots, tobacco and aged plum brandy. On the palate we found layer upon layer of dark fruits such as blackcurrants and blackberries spiced with a chilli jam of cloves, ginger, star anise and demerara sugar. Following a drop of water we were served a slice of toasted stollen with butterscotch sauce next to spiced sultana griddle scones. To taste, damson and sloe gin jam accompanied maple syrup on thick American pancakes. Following 28 years in an ex-oloroso butt, we transferred this whisky into a first fill Spanish oak PX butt.
