The herbs, roots, and sea vegetables:
Red jujube dates: nourishing to the blood, naturally sweet, beloved in TCM for women’s health.
Astragalus root: adaptogenic, immunity strengthening, and found dried at most Asian grocery stores.
Angelica root (dong quai): the “female ginseng.” Warms the blood and supports hormonal balance.
Dried shiitake and reishi mushrooms: immune-feeding, deeply nourishing, and rich in B vitamins.
Fresh ginger root: warming and anti-inflammatory.
Kombu seaweed: one of the richest natural sources of iodine, magnesium, and trace minerals.
Goji berries:antioxidant-rich and traditionally used to nourish the liver.
The order:
1. Bones, roast for 20 or so minutes for 30-40 min, cold filtered water, and a splash of apple cider vinegar. Rest 30 minutes. Then bring to a boil, skim the foam, and reduce to a low simmer.
2. Add astragalus, angelica, shiitake, reishi, and ginger the last 3 hours
3. Last 1 to 2 hours, add jujube dates.
4. Last 30 minutes, add goji berries and kombu.

The hazelnut latte gives you a blood sugar spike, seed oils if you’re getting any kind of flavored syrup or creamer, and a crash by 11am.
Raw cream gives you real fat, real nourishment, and the kind of satiety that keeps you full and clear-headed for hours.

The most radical thing you can do for your health right now is know where your food comes from.
Not the brand, not the packaging, not the health claim on the label, but the actual farm, the actual soil, the actual hands that raised it.
Local farms that prioritize pasture, soil health, and animal welfare are producing food with a completely different nutritional profile than anything sitting under fluorescent lights at a grocery store, and most people have no idea that gap even exists.
When you buy from a local farm you are voting for the kind of food system you want to live in, you are getting produce that was picked days ago instead of weeks, meat from animals that lived the way they were supposed to, and eggs and dairy that still have the nutrients intact.
It is not always cheaper and it is not always convenient, but it is one of the highest return investments you can make for your family’s long term health.
Find your local farmer, visit a farmers market, ask questions, and build that relationship because the people growing real food need your support just as much as you need theirs. As always so grateful for 💛💛

Here’s why it works:
- Collagen stays intact. Dry heat destroys collagen in meat. Water-based cooking keeps it bioavailable so your body can actually use it for skin, joints, and connective tissue.
- Minerals leach into the liquid. Bones, vegetables, herbs, they all release minerals into the cooking water. When you eat the whole dish, you get all of it.
- Gelatin is released from connective tissue. This is what gives a good broth that jiggly quality, and it’s one of the most gut-healing, skin-plumping compounds you can eat.
- It’s deeply hydrating. You’re eating your water along with nutrients, which means better absorption than drinking water alone.
- Low and slow reduces oxidized fats. High heat cooking oxidizes the fats in meat and oils. Simmering keeps temps lower and the fats cleaner.

Most people throw them away after dinner without thinking twice. But those bones are one of the most nutrient dense things you brought home from the grocery store and they are about to get tossed in the trash.
When you simmer bones low and slow in water with a splash of apple cider vinegar, something incredible happens. The collagen breaks down into gelatin. The minerals leach out of the bone and into your broth. You end up with a liquid that supports your gut lining, your joints, your skin, and your immune system. All from something you were going to throw away.
It takes about five minutes of hands on time. You cover them with water. You add your vinegar. You let it go on low heat overnight or all day while you live your life. By morning you have something that no supplement can replicate.
Real food has always worked this way. You just have to know what to do with it.

When the sun is highest, your digestive fire is strongest. That window is roughly 10am to 3pm, and it’s when your body is most equipped to break down food, absorb nutrients, and actually use what you’re eating.
By evening, that fire dims and eating a heavy meal at night means your body is trying to digest when it’s supposed to be winding down for sleep. That’s why so many people wake up bloated, unrested, or just off.
The fix isn’t complicated. Eat your biggest meal at lunch. Keep dinner lighter. Let your body do what it was designed to do.

Not all chicken skin is created equal. Pasture raised chickens that spend time outside eating grass and insects produce skin with meaningfully higher levels of vitamins A, D, E, and K compared to conventionally raised chickens that never see sunlight or eat their natural diet. The nutrient profile of an animal reflects how it lived.
Here is what you are actually getting when you leave the skin on a pasture raised chicken:
Vitamin A supports your vision, immune function, skin health, and reproductive health. The form found in animal fat is retinol which your body uses directly without any conversion required.
Vitamin D is less a vitamin and more a hormone. It governs your immune system, bone density, mood, and calcium absorption. Most women are deficient and food sources are rare which makes every one count.
Vitamin E is one of the most powerful antioxidants your body has access to. It protects your cell membranes from oxidative damage and is critical for skin health and fertility.
Vitamin K2 is the one most people have never heard of. It works with vitamin D to direct calcium into your bones and away from your arteries. Pasture raised animal fat is one of the few reliable food sources.
And yes, cooking the skin preserves these nutrients. Fat soluble vitamins are protected by the fat itself during cooking. Roasting, braising, and slow cooking all retain the nutrition. The one thing to avoid is charring it at extremely high heat.
You were taught to remove the most nutritious part of the chicken but it’s very important that you don’t.

People have been avoiding egg yolks for decades and it is one of the biggest nutrition mistakes we have ever made as a society. The fear was never based on real science. It was based on bad research that has since been debunked.
The whole egg, yolk included, gives you:
Vitamin A for your eyes, skin, and immune system
Vitamin D for bone health, mood, and hormone production
Vitamin E a powerful antioxidant that protects your cells
Vitamin K2 which directs calcium to your bones, not your arteries
Vitamin B12 for energy, brain function, and nerve health
Folate essential for cell repair and especially critical during pregnancy
Choline for brain development, liver health, and memory
Selenium a mineral that supports your thyroid and fights oxidative stress
Zinc for immune function, wound healing, and hormone balance
Iron to carry oxygen through your blood
Healthy saturated fat and cholesterol which are the raw materials your body uses to make every sex hormone you have
One egg and it has all of that.
No multivitamin comes close and no multivitamin ever will because food contains nutrients in forms your body actually recognizes and absorbs.
