This is terribly sad news. My deepest sympathies go out to the entire Trimbach family, whom I wish much strength and confidence in these days.
For me and all lovers of fine wines, Pierre was an institution, especially when it came to Alsatian Riesling: powerful, intense and fresh yet often too complex and structured for many consumers.
Rest in peace, Pierre. I will not forget you and will continue to taste your wines for many years to come, in which you will live on for decades, differently, but still.
Next time I’m in Ribeauvillé, I’ll taste, or rather, drink at your pace. But then I won’t write a review. Instead, I’ll write a hymn.
Fürst and Wassmer prove once again the level of expertise that German winemakers have now achieved with Pinot Noir, and Ziereisen has produced a finessed brut rosé from Regent grapes.
