岡山町は、
山出小路、東出小路、大西小路の三つの小路に分かれています。

大きな神社でもなく、

住宅が並ぶ細い道を進み、
いつもの町並みの先にある小さなお宮へ。

町の景色は少しずつ変わっていっても、
この場所で繰り返されてきた祭りの風景は、
昔から変わりません。
華やかさや迫力だけではなく、
暮らしの中に祭りがある。

A Timeless Homecoming.
Okayama-cho, Kishiwada, Osaka.
Okayama-cho is made up of three communities:
Yamade-shoji, Higashide-shoji, and Onishi-shoji.
Each has its own danjiri that makes its way through the neighborhood,
and these three alone enter Sugawara Shrine for their traditional miyairi.
It is not a grand shrine,
nor does it have a wide approach.
The danjiri travel along narrow streets lined with homes,
toward a small shrine nestled within the familiar neighborhood.
Beyond the torii gate, a danjiri appears.
Standards are carried in, and people gather.
The town may slowly change with time,
but the sight of this festival returning to the same place, year after year,
remains much as it always has.
It is not only about spectacle or excitement.
Here, the festival is simply part of everyday life.
Another timeless scene from Okayama-cho,
captured once again this year.

私は夏を越えた頃の緑に、より心惹かれます。
春に芽吹いた若葉は、
強い陽射しと雨を受けながら季節を重ね、
少しずつ色を深くしていく。
木々の緑も、苔の緑も、
鮮やかさの中にどこか落ち着きがあって、
差し込む光まで柔らかく感じられます。
木立の間から射し込む光。
苔の上に伸びる木々の影。
華やかな紅葉を迎える少し前、
夏の名残を残した祇王寺の庭。
季節の変わり目に出会った、
私の好きな京都の緑です。

Deep green at the end of summer.
Gio-ji Temple, Sagano, Kyoto.
The fresh greens of spring are beautiful,
but I find myself even more drawn to the deeper shades of green after summer has passed.
The young leaves that emerged in spring
have spent the season beneath strong sunlight and rain,
gradually deepening in color.
The green of the trees, the green of the moss—
vivid, yet somehow calm,
making even the sunlight filtering through the leaves feel softer.
Light streaming through the trees.
Shadows stretching across the moss.
Just before the brilliant colors of autumn arrive,
the garden of Gio-ji still holds the lingering traces of summer.
A quiet moment between seasons,
wrapped in one of my favorite shades of Kyoto green.

竹林と青もみじに包まれた、静かな古刹。
賑わう嵐山から少し離れ、
奥嵯峨へと歩いていくと、
そこには時間の流れまでゆっくりになったような空間が広がっています。
木々の間から差し込む柔らかな光。
苔を照らす緑。
風に揺れる竹の葉。
そして、縁側から静かに庭を眺める着物姿。
何か特別な出来事があるわけではなく、
ただ、この場所に流れる時間そのものが美しい。
華やかな京都とはまた違う、
奥嵯峨だからこそ出会える景色。
竹と苔、古い建物に包まれながら、
静かな京都の秋を感じるひとときでした。

Wrapped in silence, deep in Sagano.
Takiguchi-dera Temple, Sagano, Kyoto.
A quiet temple surrounded by bamboo groves and fresh green maple leaves.
Just a little away from the bustle of Arashiyama,
a walk deeper into Oku-Saga leads to a place where even time seems to slow down.
Soft light filtering through the trees.
Green moss glowing beneath the leaves.
Bamboo swaying gently in the breeze.
And a woman in kimono, quietly gazing out at the garden from the veranda.
Nothing extraordinary needs to happen here.
The beauty lies simply in the time that passes in this place.
Far from the more vibrant side of Kyoto,
this is a landscape found only in the quiet depths of Saga.
Surrounded by bamboo, moss, and old wooden architecture,
it was a peaceful moment immersed in the quiet beauty of Kyoto.

その向こうから、雨に濡れながらだんじりが姿を現します。
響く掛け声と鳴り物。
雨の中でも変わらない曳き手たちの熱気。
そして、その姿を見守る街の人たち。
今回は写真だけではなく、動画でもこの日の空気を残しました。
激しく走り抜ける瞬間もあれば、
こうして街の中を進んでいく姿もある。
だんじりだけではなく、
商店街も、沿道の人々も、降り続く雨も、
すべてがこの日の祭りの風景。
晴れの日には出会えない、雨の岸和田。
傘の向こうを進んでいく八木のだんじりに、
この街に根付いた祭りの姿を感じた一日でした。

A danjiri rolls through the rain-soaked streets.
Yagi District, Kishiwada, Osaka.
The danjiri festival trial run took place under a steady rainfall.
Countless umbrellas filled the shopping street in Kumeda.
Beyond them, a danjiri slowly emerged through the rain.
The calls of the pullers and the sound of festival music echoed through the streets.
Even in the rain, their energy never faded,
as people gathered along the roadside to watch.
This time, I captured not only photographs,
but also video to preserve the atmosphere of the day.
There are moments when the danjiri races through the streets with incredible intensity,
and others when it simply makes its way through the town like this.
The danjiri, the shopping street, the people lining the road,
and even the falling rain—
all of them became part of the festival scenery that day.
A rainy side of Kishiwada that you could never see on a clear day.
Watching the Yagi danjiri move through a sea of umbrellas,
I was reminded once again just how deeply this festival is rooted in the life and culture of this town.

この日は、だんじり祭りの試験曳きへ。
昔から何度も見てきた、八木地区のだんじり。
でも、この日の光景はいつもとは少し違いました。
降り続く雨。
途中からは、前が霞むほどの土砂降りに。
濡れた路面を駆け抜ける曳き手たち。
雨をものともせず走るだんじり。
響く掛け声と鳴り物、舞い上がる水しぶき。
今回は、その激しい動きと熱気を残したくて、流し撮りを中心に撮影しました。
人も、街も、降りしきる雨さえも流れていく中、
一瞬だけ浮かび上がるだんじりと曳き手たち。
晴れの日には撮れない。
土砂降りだったからこそ写った祭りの表情です。
昔から見ている祭りだけれど、
天候も、人も、その瞬間の熱気も、二度と同じものはない。
ずぶ濡れになりながら追いかけた試験曳き。

Cutting Through the Rain — Yagi Danjiri.
Yagi District, Kishiwada, Osaka.
On this day, I headed out to photograph the trial run for the Danjiri Festival.
I’ve watched the danjiri of Yagi District countless times over the years, but this time, the scene felt completely different.
The rain kept falling.
And before long, it turned into such a heavy downpour that everything ahead began to disappear into a curtain of rain.
The pullers raced across the soaked streets.
The danjiri charged forward, undeterred by the weather.
Shouts and festival rhythms echoed through the streets as water sprayed into the air.
This time, I focused mainly on panning shots, hoping to capture the intensity, movement, and raw energy of the festival.
As the people, the streets, and even the pouring rain dissolved into motion, the danjiri and its pullers emerged sharply for just a fleeting moment.
These are scenes that could never have been captured on a clear day.
They exist precisely because of the downpour.
It’s a festival I’ve watched for many years, yet the weather, the people, and the energy of each moment are never the same twice.
Soaked to the skin, I kept chasing the danjiri through the rain.

夕陽に照らされ、鮮やかに浮かび上がる彼岸花。
その向こうには、静かに佇む三重塔。
毎年秋になると目にするこの風景ですが、
今年は少し特別な時間になりました。
撮影していると、こちらの彼岸花を植えられた方と偶然お会いすることができました。
なぜここに彼岸花を植えたのか。
この場所がどのように守られてきたのか。
そして、この土地にまつわるいろいろなお話。
普段なら写真を撮って通り過ぎてしまう景色にも、
そこを大切にし、守っている人がいる。
そんなお話を聞いてから眺める彼岸花と三重塔は、
それまでとは少し違って見えました。
美しい景色に出会うこと。
そして、その景色をつくる人や守る人に出会うこと。
写真を続けているからこそいただけた、
とても有意義で温かな秋の時間でした。

An Autumn Landscape, Passed Down Through Time.
Hoki-ji Temple, Ikaruga, Nara.
Bathed in the warm light of the setting sun,
vivid red spider lilies glow in the foreground,
with the three-story pagoda standing quietly beyond.
It’s a scene that returns every autumn,
but this year, it became something a little more special.
While I was photographing, I happened to meet the person who planted these spider lilies.
They shared with me why the flowers were planted here,
how this landscape has been cared for over the years,
and many stories about the history and people of this area.
Even in a beautiful scene we might normally photograph and simply move on from,
there are people who quietly care for it and keep it alive.
After hearing those stories,
the spider lilies and the pagoda somehow looked different to me.
To encounter a beautiful landscape,
and to meet the people who create and preserve it.
It was one of those warm and meaningful autumn moments
that photography has given me the opportunity to experience.

和歌山・田辺市。
昨夜は、田辺の街を見渡す場所から花火を撮影しました。
夜空いっぱいに広がる、黄金色の花火。
幾重にも重なる光が街を包み込み、田辺湾の水面まで美しく染めていきます。
今回は少し離れた場所から望遠で。
花火だけを大きく切り取るのではなく、
海や街の灯り、その向こうに広がる花火まで、
「田辺の夜景」として一枚に残してみました。
クライマックスに広がった圧巻の光景。
遠くから眺めたからこそ出会えた、
田辺の街と花火がひとつになる瞬間でした。

Tanabe, Bathed in Gold.
Tanabe City, Wakayama.
Last night, I photographed the fireworks overlooking the city of Tanabe.
Golden fireworks filled the night sky, layers of light cascading over the city and beautifully illuminating the waters of Tanabe Bay.
This time, I chose to capture the scene from a distance with a telephoto lens.
Rather than focusing only on the fireworks themselves, I wanted to include the sea, the city lights, and the fireworks beyond them—all together as one nightscape of Tanabe.
An overwhelming sight unfolded during the grand finale.
A moment when the city and the fireworks seemed to become one, creating a view I could only capture from afar.

今年もこのご報告ができる季節になりました。
山と溪谷社さんより、2027年カレンダー「和想百景」が発売されました。
今回の表紙は、京都・南禅寺 天授庵。
秋色に染まる庭園を、静かな方丈から眺めた一枚です。
このカレンダーも、気がつけば今年で5年目。
最初の頃は、こうして毎年続けていけるとは思っていませんでした。
本業の合間を縫って、雨の日も、雪の日も、時には夜中から車を走らせて。
「この景色を残したい」と思う気持ちのまま、全国各地で撮影を続けてきました。
5年間続けてこられたのは、毎年楽しみにしてくださる皆さま、撮影を受け入れてくださった寺社や施設の皆さま、そして撮影を通じて出会ったたくさんの方々のおかげです。

Waso Hyakkei Calendar 2027
It’s that time of year again, and I’m happy to share some wonderful news.
The 2027 edition of my calendar, Waso Hyakkei, has been released by Yama-Kei Publishers.
This year’s cover features Tenju-an Temple at Nanzen-ji in Kyoto—a tranquil view from the temple hall overlooking a garden glowing with the colors of autumn.
It’s hard to believe, but this marks the fifth year of the Waso Hyakkei calendar.
When it first began, I never imagined that I would be able to continue this series for five years.
In between my regular work, I’ve continued traveling across Japan with my camera—through rain and snow, and sometimes setting out in the middle of the night—simply driven by the desire to preserve the beautiful scenes I encounter.
These five years would not have been possible without everyone who looks forward to the calendar each year, the temples, shrines, and other places that have kindly welcomed my photography, and all the wonderful people I have met through photography.
Thank you so much for your continued support.

誰もいない湖畔で撮影していましたが風の影響もなく千輪が見事なポンデリングみたいな形になりました。素晴らしい花火をありがとうございました。
千輪写真とスマホ動画入れています。
最終日の打ち上げは和歌山県の紀州煙火さん、滋賀県の柿木花火工業、そして葛城煙火さんの3社合同でした。打ち上げ前から不思議な気持ちでまた明日も打ち上がるんじゃ無いかとそんな感じです。
打ち上げが終盤になる頃、すでに感無量で撮れているのかもわからないほどで、、、。打ち上げ後、いつまでも拍手がなりやまず涙ぐんでしまいました。
今回ご縁から特別な場所で撮影させていただき、学びが大きかったのは僕自身だったように感じます。最終日感動したようにいつか自分も多くの人を感動させる仕事をしたいなと。葛城煙火さん長期間の打ち上げありがとうございました。万博運営の皆様ありがとうございました。万博を通しお会いした皆様ありがとうございました。生涯忘れない思い出となりました。
