My son met my grandmother, the one who has pampered me my whole childhood, it was surreal to be able to plan a surprise to meet her. She is my dad’s chachi, the ONLY one from that generation who is physically present here to bless us 🙏
Every 7th of every month in the last year, she has been the only one who never forgot to wish my baby his monthly birthdays.
Every time we would talk on phone, she used to ask me when are you coming to meet me and I always told her, I will try.. but in our mind this was one of the most important agenda for our India trip. Surprising her was so fulfilling!!

In Madeira, we learnt about a practice that quietly keeps the entire island alive: the Levadas & it’s astonishing how they have used nature’s concept to its best use.
The island’s mountains sit high in the clouds. Moist Atlantic air rises, cools, and condenses into mist and droplets as it hits the forested slopes. Instead of letting this water disappear back into the ground or ocean, people observed it, understood it, and worked with it.
They built narrow stone channels: Levadas — precisely along these condensation rich areas. The forests helped trap moisture, the cool air created constant condensation, and gravity did the rest. Water formed naturally, collected slowly, and flowed gently downhill through these channels.
What amazed us most?
These levadas still supply water to homes, agriculture, and hydroelectric power today. Over 2,000 km of channels continue to move water across the island — silently, efficiently, without ever stopping.
It’s amazing to realize that what feels like a peaceful walking trail today is actually one of the smartest water conservation systems ever built.
Sometimes innovation isn’t about adding more.
It’s about paying attention and letting nature lead. 🌿 right??
