February Recap: Art, Sun, and Code 🚀☀️

🎨 I finally framed the two prints, and they look amazing. I also reached out to about six beautiful vintage NASA prints featuring the Apollo 12 mission. Since Zach is passionate about aerospace engineering, I thought they would make the perfect Valentine’s Day gift. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that these prints were only $100–$200 each, proving that art can be affordable when you take the time to ask!

🌴 During the Toronto snowstorm, we escaped to Miami Beach for 5 days. The sunshine, warm sand, and daily ice cream were exactly what I needed. Building sandcastles with my toddler was such a joy—it felt like a true reset.☀️🏖️

💻 I wrapped up HTML & CSS lessons with my students, which served as a great refresher for me as well. Now, I’m diving into JavaScript workshops to strengthen my skills. I’m also planning to take a Python and AI course this summer while on maternity leave.

🎮 This month, I didn’t spend much time in VR, but I did enjoy some 3D puzzles, which I always find fun. I also spent time in Horizon Worlds, keeping an eye on Meta’s $50M fund for world builders. I built a world in Horizon during its beta phase (2022) and had a blast scripting in VR. Now that it’s possible to import objects, I’m excited to explore new possibilities. For Valentine’s Day, I got the early release of VII, and it has been fantastic. The fact that it will eventually be available in VR is even more exciting—I’ll definitely give it a try when it launches!

That’s a wrap for February—March, here I come! 🚀✨

January in a nutshell: Zach and I are expecting a new baby, we cleaned out a ton of our electronics, and we are enjoying the Canadian winter ❄️

After a nice break in Europe, I was back at this semester teaching an Intro to Programming & Website Building class. I also led two workshops at —one introducing VR and another about the art market with Christelle from. On top of that, I’m having a blast building a new website for.

Meanwhile, I had countless appointments at the hospital to check on my pregnancy and was thrilled to learn that baby 2 has a heart, two legs, and two arms—a very good start in life! I’ve been eating and sleeping a lot—though, to be fair, it’s winter, and I think everyone does that (no need to be pregnant to do so!).

While cleaning up our electronics, I realized just how many pieces of hardware are outdated or obsolete. I was especially bummed to find out that my Samsung Gear VR is permanently dead, along with many of the apps I used to watch VR art from 2015-2020. I’m giving away a lot of our still-working stuff TOMORROW at the market for Le Labo, from 12 pm to 5 pm, so if you need computer parts, come take a look. On a brighter note, I finally managed to put together a portfolio for my work with AR—done and dusted!

I attended the Digital Emerging Artists Award at (thanks to ) and realized I haven’t been to many exhibitions this month. What a shame—I really need to step up my game in February. My art highlights were definitely the events organized by. For two weeks they hosted both online and on-site events about the Canadian art scene, and I thought it was a fantastic initiative.

I took two wonderful prints from to the framer; although I am still looking for a solution with the Magic Bullet by General Idea. I think I might need to buy some helium and let the artworks float in space 🎈 instead of getting them framed!

That’s it—2025 is off to a sweet start 💨
Ps: Louise got the crown at the Galette des Rois 👑
From launching to making history at for making a groundbreaking metaverse exhibition, to selling Apocalypse from to the —this 2 years journey has been nothing short of incredible. 🌟

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of meeting from at during the Digital November event organized by in #Toronto. I also tried her newest #VRexperience, and it was a delight to meet another talented #VRcreator in this city!
This afternoon, I had the amazing opportunity to attend a special VR exhibition showcasing the best of French immersive productions. The event featured Dream Machines, a VR exhibit composed of four animated films created by the renowned French studio Atlas V. These films, which premiered at the first edition of Cannes Immersive 2024, represent the cutting edge of this new artistic form, merging cinema and immersive technology.

A big thanks to Dyana, the director of, for inviting me to this exclusive event. I was lucky enough to watch two of the films—Empereur and Gloomy Eyes—which will also be shown at (all sold out!). Such a wonderful afternoon with the Francophone community here in Ontario. Thanks to and for this wonderful bilingual event.

✨📺 Thursday night, I went to the opening of the Vector Festival in Toronto! 📺✨

The #VectorFestival showcases digital games and creative media practices. This year’s festival, curated by the talented, is themed “too fragile to hold.”

🗓️ Vector Festival 2024: too fragile to hold
📅 July 11 – 21, 2024
📍, Toronto
🔗

The festival explores the connected experiences of migrating species, weather changes, geopolitical tensions, and data processing. It shows how everything is linked and dependent on each other as we deal with global issues and inequalities. I found the exhibition quite optimistic, perhaps even utopian.

I was particularly captivated by video artwork, “Plane of Incidence,” a brand new piece from 2024. videos were mesmerizing and eye-catching. I also discovered two new artists:, a Jordanian-Palestinian artist, and from Quebec.

I wanted to go to a AR tour today but it’s raining a lot in Toronto ☔️ hopefully it will clear up. They have a lot of events featuring new media artworks, don’t miss out the Festival and lmk if you went to one of the events in the comments ☺️ This summer is so busy in Toronto!
