Stepping inside feels like entering Günther Vogt’s universe at full resolution. A world where geology, biology, material culture, and psychology are not references, but working tools. The project wall reads like a condensed archive of methods and obsessions, and the space becomes a site of production and exchange rather than a neutral container.
For me, this encounter is also personal. I have been orbiting this practice for the last fifteen years through collaborations, through the friction of sites, and through ongoing conversations about what a landscape can hold, and what it can refuse.
Three moments stay particularly close. My first solo exhibition, 'Non Sites Sight,' opened at the Vogt Case Studio in 2011. Then two collaborations for the Architecture Biennale: the 13th Venice Architecture Biennale contribution 'Un-common Venice around Common Ground,' and later on, the 2021 Venice Biennale project, 'Common Water: The Alps,' which reframed the Alps not as a postcard image, but as a contested, living water system.
I am very grateful to have been invited to contribute to this new chapter with three of my works, and curious to see where this shared trajectory might lead next.
’s exhibition at runs until March 11.
Go while it still feels like a studio with the lights on.

Preparations are in full swing, and today brought a special highlight. To ensure we can work on our projects on site from 12 December onward, we moved our more than five-meter-long meeting table from the Case Studio on Stampfenbachstrasse into the Forum. This would not have been possible without the energetic support of our long-standing partner and main sponsor of the exhibition,
Over the past 20 years, Berger Gartenbau has executed numerous projects for us with outstanding quality, including: FIFA (Image 3) Swiss Re Clubhouse (Image 4) SIA Hochhaus (Image 5) Villa Rosau (Image 6)
We look forward to continuing our collaboration on many exciting projects.
Reminder: Opening on 11th of December 2025 at 6:30 pm at Architekturforum Zürich.

Our exhibition Carte Blanche XXI: Exhibition Office presents selected objects, artefacts, and artworks from the office’s Wunderkammer and Case Studio, offering insight into the practice’s working methods and design attitude. The enigmatic pieces invite visitors to “wonder” and open up reflections on landscape through concrete objects.
Within the Exhibition Office, the Wunderkammer items act as thought models, sources of inspiration, and design tools in dialogue with the ongoing work on site. Each object tells its own story, linking different origins and times through its placement in the Architekturforum.
This temporary Wunderkammer brings the atmosphere of Stampfenbachstrasse into the Architekturforum and introduces Vogt’s design approach. The collection—ranging from artworks and scientific instruments to geological finds, organic materials, books, and maps—reflects the practice’s diverse perspectives on landscape.
The objects are displayed, among other settings, on a long bench by our longstanding partner world.
The exclusive “Lange Bank,” designed by Vogt Landschaftsarchitekten, consists of modular segments that can form benches of any length or radius. Its robust HPL core construction with a specially developed surface texture ensures long-lasting weather resistance and stability.
With an area of around 300,000 square meters, klybeckplus in northern Basel is one of the largest transformation sites in Switzerland. An open, green, and mixed urban district is to be created here—one that provides added value for the entire region. A new piece of Basel is planned, offering space for 8,500 residents and 7,500 jobs, as well as diverse opportunities for leisure and culture.
Over the past three years, the three project partners (the Department of Construction and Transport of the Canton of Basel-Stadt, Städtebau und Architektur; Swiss Life Asset Management AG; and Rhystadt AG), together with the planning team, have further developed the 2022 urban design framework and examined its feasibility within the scope of the masterplan.

Julian Charrière – Tropisme , 5:00 pm
As part of Carte Blanche XXI: Exhibition Office at Architekturforum Zürich, the artist presents Tropisme, an installation that stages the live cryopreservation of a plant dating back to the Cretaceous period. Inside a hermetically sealed, refrigerated vitrine, the specimen is held within a sheath of ice—as if time could be paused and the plant preserved for an unknown future. This fragile, frost-born archive relies entirely on continuous electricity—a delicate balance in which vitality is protected from entropy and decay.
Following the performance, a guided tour of the exhibition will take place, during which Günther Vogt and Julian Charrière will discuss several of the works on display. This tour offers insight into shared methodologies, ongoing research, and the intersections between artistic and landscape-related practices within the exhibition.

Working in and with the landscape is central to our design practice. During the exhibition, the space becomes an extension of our office: current projects are developed at the main work table, while work-in-progress pinboards offer rare insight into otherwise hidden design processes.
Three cabinets, together with a selection of Wunderkammer objects, support the on-site work — embodying core principles, tools, and methods of our practice.
The cabinets represent three key fields of our daily work: biology, geology, and sociology. They bring together analogue tools (herbaria, pigments, models, drawings), digital technologies (analysis, simulation, visualization), and our fieldwork in the landscape. Each cabinet also includes a small curated library of publications and logbooks, inviting visitors to explore and discover.
In this way, the exhibition becomes a living workspace where over 25 years of project history meet future perspectives.
Today we visited the worshop of our partner in order to discuss the details of the three cabinets.

We are delighted to curate this year’s Carte Blanche at the Architekturforum Zurich. The annual format invites practitioners from architecture, urban design, art, and related disciplines to develop and present an independent, experimental project. For its 21st edition, Carte Blanche opens its space to landscape architecture for the very first time.
As part of Carte Blanche XXI, VOGT Landscape Architects temporarily relocate their practice into the Architekturforum Zurich. With Exhibition Office, the exhibition space becomes a site for design, production, and exchange.
The concept brings together key aspects of VOGT’s working methods — including the Wunderkammer, which explores overarching themes such as biology, geology, and psychology. A large project wall traces the office’s evolution over the past 25 years, presenting projects, research, and experiments not as separate entities, but as an ongoing engagement with ideas, methods, and processes.
A diverse programme of activities accompanies the exhibition — including workshops, lectures, and conversations. Exhibition Office serves as an open working environment and a platform for dialogue between practice, research, and the public.
In the coming weeks, we will share more about the exhibition, its programme, and the process behind its making.
