That Autumn light over the ocean. This evening at the beach at first had a silver glow to it, as the sun got lower she took on that familiar autumn glow.
I met a lovely lady who was walking back from the beach, at just 95 YEARS OLD!! She cutely said “it’s nice to see a girl fly a drone, it’s usually the boys” 🙃💖
She also said “get out and enjoy life while you can” what an amazing woman! 💖

I jumped out of bed (yes seriously!) at 5:30cm and hit the road in search of a foggy scene.
In my mind the fog would be about a metre off the ground and the sun would be casting a beautiful glow.
I had no plan, just driving until I saw what I liked. I almost gave myself whiplash when I saw this scene 🤣

To this day I still get a rush when I see the Milky Way in camera! It’s a friggen joy to capture!!
Yenyening Lakes offer a Bortle 2.3 sky, is just 2hrs 20mins from Scarborough and offers free camping.
Pretty much the perfect spot for a landscape/aerial/astrophotographer.
Camping solo I had 3 locations on the cards that I checked out during the day, I bumped into a couple of caravaners here who assured me they weren’t serial killers (I told them all the best serial killers say that).
Lucky I didn’t my back locations.

I needed to get away and saw the skies would be clear for astro so I headed over to the amazing Yenyening Lakes in Beverly and I ended up also scoring my first yellow salt lake 💛
So stoked!!
The lakes are where the Lockhart and Yilgarn catchments meet, marking the upper source of the Avon and Swan River systems.

Have you ever been to a location that is just so spiritual it overwhelms you?
This was my first experience in the Bungle Bungle Range.
Seeing it was overwhelming enough, hiking along the beach sand, in the middle of the harsh East Kimberley, to this location called Cathedral Gorge was something out of this world.
As we arrived 3 Common Crow Butterflies floated near a small tree clinging to life at the top of the Cathedral.
As I walked in I had a thought of something deeply personal to me that I hadn’t thought about for years - it just came out of no where. I let the thought sit with me.
As we were shooting and the sun started to disappear I was overwhelmed with the beauty and emotions of the place, I sat on a rock and just lent into it, tears streaming down my face.
I’ve come away from here a different person, I made a decision that I had put on hold for years and I put it into play the day after I got back.
I’ve chosen to edit and share the single image shot from here as I want it to be as real as the experience was.
The Kimberley got me real good.
The magical, World Heritage-listed Bungle Bungle Range covers over 400kms of land situated in the Purnululu National Park where the Gija and Jaru people are the Traditional Custodians.
I’ll never forget this experience thanks to / / 🙏🏽
Growing up in WA I’ve allways wanted to visit the Bungle Bungle Range located in the Kimberley, I was lucky enough to (finally) get on the where we spent 8 days shooting at some epic locations led by & 🌌
Based at the Bungle Bungle Savannah Lodge we were in the perfect spot to head out for astro.
My experience up there is hard to put into words, and as Ben said, maybe it doesnt need words…
The World Heritage-listed Bungle Bungle Range is in the Purnululu National Park, the beehive shaped domes are striped with cyanobacteria. The ground is scattered with smooth pebbles and beach sand.
The origin of the name Bungle Bungle Range is not clear. The Kija Aboriginal people, who have lived here for over 20,000 years, called the area Purnululu, the Kija word for sandstone.
