i think, at this point, we are eligible for compensation.

it is challenging to intuitively because you were taught that your cues, preferences, and habits were wrong. and once you got them “right,” a new trend or program came around and toppled your jenga tower. you were told to drink water when your were hungry and to stop eating before 7pm. we were encouraged to outsource our own sense of self-trust regularly.

this is for my millennials who are tired of thinking about food, my genXers that feel scammed by perimenopause after decades of following “the rules,” and my boomers who bore the brunt of the earliest, most illogical diet culture nonsense.

this is for every parent of adults who feels regret for being an almond mom and every parent of little nervous about passing on their messy relationship with food.

this is for every client who runs out of characters in our nutrition intake form when we ask about relationship with food, and every ADHDer/neurodivergent person who feels guilty for “eating like a toddler.”

it’s hard to eat intuitively because cosmopolitan was your nutrition coach and pop culture was steeped in anti-fatness. and, we’re back again with “thin is in” louder than ever.

we know everything about food and diets and very little about what our bodies need. and yes, i do think that’s by design. at the very least, could they have taught us how to do our taxes?

i left education and became a dietitian, and if there’s anything our team can do, it’s teach 💗 we’re here to help you both unlearn the BS, relearn the essentials, and start eating without the exhaustion of second-guessing yourself.

here in the mess with you,
xoxo Ri
i hope we can still be friends 🥲

you’ve heard of girl dinner… but what do you know about sturdy girl dinner??

one of the simplest reframes around eating more nutritiously is a simple question: what can I add?

our clients hate this, but i have to admit — they’ve gotten pretty good at nutrition of addition! you can work with our team and get better at this too 😇
i’ve got bad news about that fresh stack of notebooks.

(don’t worry, i collect them, too)

thanks for helping me make this deinfluencing post!! i had a lot of fun putting this together. we are overmarketed, overpromoted, and overadvertised to. and yet, everything is presented like it might just change our lives forever.

we buy things and pursue plans with the best intentions, but we often do so for a fantasy version of ourselves that doesn’t exist… and might never exist!

what seems to actually work? the most boring, unviral habits, choices, and decisions. boundaries. self-compassion. community. strength! NOURISHMENT!!!

that might feel annoying af, and it’s also good news for people who are feeling tired of buying shit they never use.

what did we miss from the “didn’t fix my life” category? what would you add to the “actually improved my life” list?
great way to kick off ASPDA 2026 ♥️

i miss 2016 in some ways, but i am grateful to have grown up a lot since then 💛

i got married, left my career and started over completely, freaked tf out in november and was told i was overreacting (!!!!!!!), and started the beginning of a better relationship with food.

a lot at once! glad i kept going. i wasn’t very physically strong then but i definitely got tough.

happy taurus season to all who celebrate (you all better celebrate 😤)
does it feel like the GLP1 ads and overall hype are getting out of hand? should you be able to acquire medication intended for long-term use for 5-10 lb weight loss?

here’s some thoughts from a registered dietitian who gets emails daily to use and promote these meds as an influencer. yes, really.

i welcome your thoughts, however, requirements for commenting include:
• nuance
• critical thinking
• general understanding that fast weight loss is a concern, not an accolade
• ability to hold multiple truths at once
• general kindness

please and thank you 🤙🏼

talking about GLP1s on social media has been something i have been hesitant about.

on the other hand, it’s a disservice to not share my insights as a provider having these conversations daily with clients and teammates.

it’s harder and harder to spend time on social media or even streaming devices without seeing an ad for weight loss medications that promise results. yes, these are influential meds, and also, there ARE non-responders and slow responders to them. you can promise results to people like this; it’s so misleading.

did you know that there are influencer campaigns to GLP1s? are you overwhelmed by the barrage of ads?

this is a safe space to follow along if you want more nuanced takes without the shame + pressure 💜
we love being your dietitians. happy RD day!

thank you for trusting us, sharing your pet pictures with us, and letting us be your personal hype people. we wouldn’t be here with you 🥹💘!

as for me, my life changed for the better when i started growing my team. i am immensely grateful to work alongside Ellie’s, Laurie’s, Maria-Jose’s, and Sarah’s brilliance.

amongst us, there are 10+ degrees, a many thousand hours of clinical, community, and private practice work, and a myriad of empowering phrases and goofy analogies that likely still ring in our clients’ ears long after we’ve worked with them.

even when i am extra squirrelly, fully losing my mind, or forgetting what day it is, they’re right there with me and giving our clients (and each other!) the love and compassion a healthcare provider should always deliver.

our team seeks to provide accessible nutrition care in diverse ways and for diverse learning styles:
• 1:1 nutrition counseling through insurance and private pay
• group nutrition coaching experiences
• community membership (tiered pricing)
• monthly community class (sliding scale and scholarships)
•corporate wellness sessions and programs (yes, we will right your workplace wellness wrongs!!)

if your dietitian was a kitchen appliance, which one would she be? comment to let her know 🥰
coincidence or no? curious what you think!

i realized in grad school that so much of my fascination with being 120 pounds (a dream foiled once puberty hit 😆) might have actually been based on a formula for what some may calculate or consider “ideal.”

there are a myriad of other reasons why we think this, i’m sure. the fact that we thought about it at ALL instead of learning how to be financially independent, how to vote, how to advocate for ourselves, how social determinants of health impact our communities (could be great high school electives, just saying!!!) is also indicative of our society’s expectations and programming for young women.

sturdy girls don’t use equations like this to determine their ideal weight or their health status. pass it on, please!
your starting points for hormone support. i know, BORING 🤣

it is so disappointing (thought no surprising) to see the grandiose, cultlike approach to “hacking your hormones” on social media.

ironically, the protocols, programs, and exorbitant costs of some of these hormone-focused approaches can stress you out just thinking about them. what good is that for your hormones?

the truth is, there’s a huge market for it. many folks are tired, overworked, not able to take time for themselves. self-care feels like a pipe dream amidst this late capitalism stage 🫢

instead of looking at the systemic issues, we are often reminded that we could be doing MORE, or worse, that we have caused many of the symptoms we’re experiencing.

what good is a supplement for supporting cortisol if you’re under constant stress? how helpful is a dietary protocol if you struggle to grocery shop? how much fuel can you derive from food you just can’t imagine prepping?

I just want to remind you that it’s unlikely that “you don’t want it badly enough.”

it’s more likely that we were never really taught how to fuel our bodies outside of diets and restriction. and, that’s something i’d like to help you with 🫡

welp, looks like you got a Ri Rant™️ in the caption today! 😅 there is SO much more I could have included in this reel, so know this is a basic list of hormone supports.
