✈️ check flights on multiple different sites (and use a VPN)
💷 have a travel fund (my number one biggest hack & piece of advice to those who want to travel more!!)
🛏️ stay in hostels for the cheap accomm & for making friends (travelling can get lonely otherwise, believe me). bonus points if it has free breakfast and all-female dorms. make sure it has kitchen facilities!
💳 use fee-free travel cards to save you a LOT on conversion & transaction fees. DM me or comment ‘travel card’ and I’ll send you a link with my faves and free £££ by signing up!
🚄travel overnight if possible. it saves on one night’s accommodation costs and gets you to your destination quicker. a win-win situation.
🧑🍳 cook meals!! eating out every single day is not worth it. the local supermarket will become your best friend (plus exploring different countries’ snack aisles is fun)
🚌 use public transport!! always the cheaper option than taking a taxi (unless the country has cheap taxis or if you’re in a group). or walk, honestly.
🎟️ booking tickets online in advance for attractions is usually cheaper than buying at the entrance. you can also find discounts & vouchers online for activities too.
🏥 I never travel without travel insurance because you just never know what might happen. I’ve run into a few problems before & travel insurance has saved me thousands. don’t risk it: get travel insurance (my go-to is linked in my bio!)

following on from my previous post: ‘how I find (and land) remote roles’, here’s the advice that helped me to get hired (and it’s the complete opposite of what every career expert tells you!) 🤫
when I followed conventional advice (mass applying, generic templates, hiding my ‘messy’ career path), I didn’t get very far.
the ‘rules’ are designed to make you sound like every other generic applicant. but companies don’t hire ‘everyone else’.
they hire people who understand their problems, show genuine interest, bring unique perspectives, and communicate like actual humans. (interesting people!!)

oops, did I really just admit that? 😳 this was one of the hardest lessons I learned while adapting and rebuilding my life.
I think that’s the part no one really talks about. the explaining. the comparing. the quiet shame of feeling ‘behind’ when you’re actually trying to figure things out and build something that fits.
over the past few years, I’ve learned this the hard way:
embarrassment isn’t failure; it’s usually a sign you’re evolving.
staying somewhere that no longer fits, or chasing a future society has made you believe is the only path, just because it looks successful from the outside? that’s the real trap.
if you’re in a season of rebuilding, questioning everything, or quietly starting again… you’re not alone.
what’s one thing you’re trying to rebuild this year? 🤍

but what if it didn’t? (spoiler: life doesn’t tend to go to plan 🥲) my life only exists as it does now because two of my biggest life plans completely fell apart.
this series isn’t about quitting your job, starting over dramatically, or chasing an aesthetic life.
it’s about what happens after a plan collapses. when everything you thought would happen… didn’t. when you still need to pay rent, make money, and decide what comes next.
for the next 30 days, I’m sharing everything I’ve learned about money, work, and identity from making life work when it didn’t go to plan. everything I’ve learned about picking yourself back up, adapting and rebuilding your life into something even better.
if your life doesn’t look like you thought it would by now… this series is for you 🫶🏼

remote work isn’t just reserved for software developers or digital nomads with their own businesses… it’s a skill you can learn. I graduated with a humanities degree and have been working in tech for the past 5 years in fully remote roles. if I can do it four times, you can definitely do it once!!
if you’re stuck in an office dreaming of flexibility, start here. swipe through. SAVE it. use it. send it to a friend 🫶🏼

oxford. china. lisbon. quitting jobs. starting over. again and again.
in 2020, I graduated from oxford with £8k saved, a year-long travel plan and a scholarship to study mandarin in china the following year (as a chinese adoptee its been a lifelong goal of mine to reconnect to my roots and spend a year living there).
covid-19 ruined everything.
what followed was 5 years of plans falling apart and rebuilding:
📦 accidentally moved to lisbon and started a new life there without a job, not speaking the language & knowing no one
🚫 assumed I’d be going to china a year later so only working in a job for ~6 months only to be denied entry due to border closures. this happened two years in a row!
👩🏻💻 started and quit 4 jobs
🇨🇳 finally made it to china in 2023
🚞 backpacked 20,751km home by land
🇵🇹 applied for portuguese citizenship
💻 stopped working 6 months ago with no backup plan
I don’t have it all figured out but I’ve learned that life doesn’t go to plan, and that’s okay!! things work themselves out in the most magical ways.
if you’re navigating uncertainty, pivoting constantly, or rebuilding after plans fell apart, then you’re in the right place. let’s figure this out together 🫶🏼

I always travel to Chiang Mai, Thailand to do my courses as there’s something so special about living in a temple with monks (as opposed to going to an international centre or Goenka retreat). it also means your practice is far more personalised and individual as you report to a monk who teaches you daily. you also get your own room (kuti) with your own bathroom!
Vipassanā has truly changed my life in ways that I don’t even know how to express. what you feel and learn in the temple is something that must be experienced for yourself. you attain a level of self-awareness, happiness and bliss that cannot be described. is it difficult? YES. is it worth it? absolutely.
comment or DM me ‘VIPASSANA’ and I’ll send you the links to the YouTube videos I made talking about my previous two experiences in depth. they also have all of the information about the temple I always go to 🫶🏼
would you ever try Vipassanā? 👀
