The Spinnerei (cotton mill) in Leipzig is a 10-hectare industrial site, which was founded in 1884. Back then, it developed into the largest cotton mill in continental Europe. During this time, an entire industrial town with over 20 factories, workers' housing, kindergartens and a recreational area, grew in our city, with about 4000 people working there.
Within the past 20 years, this impressive and incredibly beautiful area was repurposed for arts and culture. A fascinating mixture of people has settled in the Spinnerei. Such as craftsmen, self-employed people and small businesses, and above all many many artists, most of them belonging to the so-called "New Leipzig School". You can find there lots of art galleries which are of course free to visit anytime.
I used to work there twice during my art history studies. Once as an intern at a gallery and another time giving visitor's tours during an international festival of photography.
If you ever get to visit Leipzig, this place is a must see and recommended as an important key point of modern arts around the world!
and I went there on a beautiful, cold sunny winter's day. We got to climb one of the large rooftops, which you see in the last photos, with the sun slowly setting above our heads in between the old, large brick buildings. Thank you Sophia for this wonderful idea, I absolutely enjoyed it and it brought back so many memories!
I am wearing an adorable outfit by with the Gentlewoman Waistcoat, the Darling Deco Skirt and Dandy Dame Skirt. An all time classic, which finally also gives me a reason to wear my beloved Stetson cap (which can also be found at the Emmy shop by the way). I love this classy style, such a simple and stylish look for many, many occasions. I paired it with my new boots, which I bought recently.

Charles Dickens in "A Christmas Carol". Do you also love seeing the Muppets version of this book every year? I think it has become one of my Christmas traditions. I am a huge fan of this book and have to admit that the Muppets movie is by far my most favourite adaption. ♥️🌟

I have been wearing glasses since I was 4 years old, plus contacts since I was about 14. My eyesight is so bad that I can hardly see my own hands in front of my eyes.
Since I can remember I am dreaming of a morning in my life when I lie in my bed, open my eyes and am simply able to see! ♥️ This is why, for over ten years now, it was one of my biggest wishes to have an eye laser surgery.
My glasses have always been a part of me, but never felt like they really belonged to me. Wearing glasses, for me, felt like having a foreign object in my face all my life. Like living behind glass and seeing the world from an outside view. Plus wearing glasses and contacts all your life is so ernormously expensive and always an investment, especially when you have -8 diopters or more, like I do.
I have been waiting many years until a certain age, to make sure my eyesight doesn't get worse anymore. Thanks to a great recommendation I got in contact with the wonderful team of right here in Leipzig, had all the necessary tests and checkups, and am ready to finally do it. ♥️ I am so grateful for this opportunity.
It's happening all so quickly now and I am so glad to have found this place, they have been doing these kinds of eye surgeries for over 16 years and everyone is so understanding and welcoming and friendly, I simply feel safe. Of course this is a huge decision and I will still be very nervous, but I still cannot imagine this is really happening now.
I know many people have thought about this kind of surgery too but are too scared or worried, which I absolutely understand!
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask, I'd be so happy to answer them! Maybe some of you even had the experience, please let me know, it would be amazing to hear about it! ♥️

This incredibly beautiful painting is, besides "Girl Reading a Letter at an Open Window", which I recently posted, another masterpiece by the Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer.
It is currently displayed at the impressive exhibition about Vermeer’s oeuvre – and the one of his contemporaries – at in Dresden.
Vermeer began his career in his native town Delft as a history painter. In the middle 1650s he started shifting his focus towards the present day and the world around him.
In this glorious painting, a woman dressed in a blue morning jacket stands before a table in a corner of a room, she holds a balance in her right hand. Hanging behind her is a large painting of the Last Judgment.
Vermeer’s pictures convey something of the inner world of human beings, the realm of the mind and of emotion. As she stands before worldly treasures, a jewelry box, and in front of a Last Judgment, she is lost in deep thought. Today we greatly admire Vermeer’s paintings for their timeless beauty and their powerful messages. 🌹
Vermeer was an outstanding artist, whose female portraits show fascinating resemblance. And this is such a joy to discover!
