After we shared our thoughts on the story earlier, a lot of people reached out asking us to make a post so they could share it along.
This has been the bane of the vintage industry for the last few years, and it’s only getting worse. Why are wholesalers, and retailers a like feeding these Pakistan factories? It’s ultimately destroying your own industry?!
Everything from carhartt products, of which every inch is brand new fabrics including fake zips and badges, to now terrible quality nascar jackets… And even fake embroidered rework nike sweats. Recently thousands of fake rare band tees are being screen printed on single stitch tees and flooding the market.
It’s insane to see the volume of these products in circulation - if you search for “carhartt jacket” on vinted or depop it’s 80% fakes listed for over £100.
These products are quite literally fast fashion. Terrible quality and made in awful conditions.
The beauty in vintage is that the items are both unique and preloved. If a product is hard to get hold of and you just mass produce fakes to get a similar product on your rails all you do is lower market value at every level.
