This piece is double signed by JD Meek, a jeweler from Edinburgh. Known in his time for building the most accurate clocks, yet somehow almost all information about him disappeared. No storefront. No family archive. No photographs.
Until recently.
A great-great-granddaughter of David Meek reached out and shared something priceless: his family history… and his face. The very man who likely sold this Zenith in the 1930s.
Not only does this watch tell time, but as long as it’s on its owner’s wrist, there will always be a reason to keep the story alive.

This stunning 1970s C-shape case by Guillod & Co, the same casemaker behind pieces for Vacheron, Cartier, Patek Philippe etc and inside beats a beautiful Zenith manual wound movement running at 28,800 vph. Watch perfection really…
Here is the sh*tty math. Men sized watches are around 15 grams of 18k gold which means the scrap value is getting dangerously close to, or even exceeding, market value.
For the smart buyers out there, buy it now and tell your wife it is literally a free watch.

Forget the Swiss for a moment… we’re here for French watch cases ✨
From the, admiring the best the Dutch have to offer at and, to catching up with and.
Then the real hunt: endless antique shops, dusty vitrines, and finally… a small golden gem bearing the VF Verger Frères hallmark. “Le joaillier des joailliers.” More on that very soon.

But honestly… not happening. So hey, look!
A 1930s steel pocket watch by Alpina, featuring a central seconds hand.
That’s it. (Nerds will understand.)

This “anonymous” Piaget, commonly known as the reference 9033, comes with an almost absurd French hallmark over-exuberance, yet no movement serial number at all.
Gold marks everywhere.
Identity? Nowhere to be found.
Why?
Prototype?
Export rules?
Case supplier logic?
The kind of detail that raises more questions than answers and that’s exactly why this piece is interesting.
Now live on the website.

Not status. Not a flex. Not an investment.
Just passion. Stories from another time.
From WW2 warriors to disco kings — that’s what makes my heart tick.
Gold, diamonds, a roaring V8? Sure, I’ll brag.
But at the core… just a nerd in cosplay.

Over a decade ago, I began my search for vintage. With a tiny budget but a curious eye, I discovered the true value of “vintage.” It might still be a buzzword, but for me it’s all about items made to last generations, each bound to the stories of their creators and previous owners. And these stories would be forgotten if not for these “lifeless” pieces of steel and gold.
My passion is to find these items, tell their stories, and preserve their legacy. And without all of you, I wouldn’t be able to do what I love. Thank you. ❤️

And with this early look they used a subtle design with its flat bezel and wide 18mm lug size for the 32mm case.
This example shows a matt black dial and roman numerals in the golden Alpina details.
TLDR; This is my top recommended at P0rnhub 💛

The Brand Bible refers to this watch as a “special” commemorative piece for the Canadian Grand Prix in 1968. However with many pieces surfaced in The Netherlands I don’t think that is correct.
With the introduction of the Chronostop, the consumer budget chronograph brother of the Speedmaster, it was most likely to be the even more affordable “racing” inspired watch.
We all know how cheap Dutch people are so it makes sense they chose this over functional counterparts.
