Itâs a brand new chapter

Iâve had the greatest joy curating parts of this journey alongside, whose vision came from spotting a gap in Indian retail for thoughtfully sourced South Asian fashion; and then beautifully filling it..
On the 23rd May, the doors open at, and hereâs a little sneak peek of some of my favourites. đ
Think hand-painted batik from Sri Lanka, liquid silks from Bali, modern utility wear from Indonesia, kaftans by UAE-based masters, and Indian craft-led labels creating the yummiest pieces (you know I never joke about that).
A space full of discovery, texture, colour, and stories.
Welcome to. đ€

Iâll take any reason to be in Goa right now.
Some sweet bts vibes from when I styled their âBeyond the Seaâ
Just 5 people walking around beaches of South Goa, in sandy shorts, flip flops, spf 50 glitter sunscreen and a locked bag of pearls.

Our conversation was eye opening too. pointed out something very nuanced, while we lament âdying craftsâ, the real loss might be our own attention spans. In villages too. Skills didnât just fade from poor documentation, theyâre slipping because weâve lost the meditative, stubborn single-minded focus weaving demands.

As fashion editors, we can clock in real time that budgets are now for shows and events. Still brands that havenât invested in building a consistent visual language (with consistent teams) rarely land this vision in one season. But PĂ©ro, whoâve mastered even the art of the press kit keeps winning employee of the month.
It took 16 years for them to get a finale but the gaze on india (both internally and externally) had to first stop equating high-skill fashion with embroidery. And in that time Aneeth, with her team, has built something that feels closer to a Margiela school of thought, where the whole is always greater than the sum of its parts. Where Pero's decade-old pieces stack perfectly well with this weekend's show.
And though this collection was all about being a bit OOO: controlled palette, stripes, blazers, ties: Aneeth famously does show up to the Delhi offices in the early hours and lets only the work talk. It does.

I know the HR is very happy.
Congrats we all do love Péro.
Last week meeting the ONLY family still practicing resist dyeing Bela block prints in India. I know âdying craftsâ has become a bit of marketing bait, but the truth is even the oldest crafts are still alive, even if slightly perfunctorily, in villages across India. You have to be fond of back breaking travel tho đ€
Bela, from its namesake village in Kutch, lost its importance as its cooler cousin Ajrakh grew and eventually snagged the GI tag. Block printed by hand using natural dyes, bajra flour and mud as resist, the prints are floral, earthy toned, with the occasional camel and elephant wandering through the motifs.
Mansukhbhai, now one of the last Bela custodians, recounted throwing his blocks into the river because he didnât think there were enough takers for the craft. But as so many us keep tugging at their threads; he is Now rebuilding the blocks, and perhaps: the belief.
