I No Longer Love Blue Skies by Gaetan Uldry

In a context of contemporary warfare, drones are increasingly used as tools and machines for control, surveillance, and repression, becoming more and more technologically sophisticated. Through a selection of images collected from various channels, active in most modern conflicts (Syria, Libya, Mali, Central Africa and Ukraine), the book questions the ways war is represented. Where journalistic images are often framed, if not suppressed, by the belligerents and tend to lose relevance, they are gradually being replaced by these machine-produced images. The book brings together documentary images on which the author intervenes only minimally. It is not question of creation here but more on how representing reality.

EL RETRATO DE TU AUSENCIA (2023) &, couple copies available

During a period of six years Alejandro Morales collected more than 500 photographs depicting bodies published his local newspaper P.M. in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico. The time of extreme violence made Ciudad Juárez among the most violent cities in the world, marked by the large number of intentional homicides committed in its streets. The limits of what the press could publish were blurred as it was so common to find oneself in the middle of a shootout or come across an abandoned corpse. Morales removed all the corpses that he found in the photographs in the P.M. Newspaper by manually erasing them with a gum eraser.

Morales approached the newspaper from its name, understanding it as a “Post Mortem” space. When what was supposed to be in the image no longer appeared, the void that was left opened up a chance to think about what was actually happening. The softness of the eraser, the duration of the erasing process and its ritual connotations confront the immediacy and brutality of these cases. These new images intend to grant an opportunity for mourning, a more dignified form of death.

CARCY #14

′Since day one, we have embraced madness (or is it clairvoyance?) as a spark of eccentricity in the pages of the magazine, but also as a form of resistance to a dictated and oppressive normality. So what makes us different? Are we really the crazy ones? The hysterical? The unfit? How come madness feels sane and sanity completely deranged? In our collapsing democracies, where dissent is pathologized, what is considered madness is madness is pushed further and further to the margins. And to us, many so-called “mad” individuals feel actually more attuned to reality than those who call themselves sane. For its new issue, CARCY navigates the chaos and layered paradoxes of madness — which one can also approach through its complementary mirror: mental health.′

‘There are fairground rides overwhelmed by cheerfully recalcitrant children, foam parties charged with adolescent libido, pensioners with their best handbags, and candy floss of absurd, almost comedic proportions. A few miles away lies the frontline of a counter-revolutionary war, growing in ferocity. “It looks a little nostalgic,” Nunn reflects, “but it’s sort of accelerated nostalgia. Because these celebrations should still be going on.”’

JOKE, & (2022) couple signed copies available, first come first served

‘Joke’ riffs insouciantly on themes of life, death, and birth through a variety of visual languages. In JOKE, Chetrit brings together family photos, street photography, still lifes, selections from the artist’s teenage archive, and expansive self-portraits involving a cast of characters who feature as both engaged and unwitting collaborators.

Referencing a wide range of photographic tropes and traditions, Chetrit studies the power dynamics between photographer and subject as they spar and collude. JOKE deals in high humour and deadly seriousness, plunging us into a world in which social roles are inverted, norms are examined, judgements of taste and value are suspended, and everything coalesces, dead and alive, true and false, sincere and affected.

‘Manual for Freedom, Research, and Creativity’

The latest issue of iconoclastic fashion biannual 032c for Winter 2025/26 commences with a 40-page report on the industrial rock band Nine Inch Nail’s ongoing Peel It Back Tour—‘a piece of memorabilia for those who were there, and an archive for those who wish they were’—opening with an atmospheric photo diary, followed by an interview with the tour’s visionary creative director Todd Tourso, a setlist that also doubles as a historical record reaching back to the band’s 1988 inception, and, of course, culminating in a conversation with founder Trent Reznor and longtime collaborator Atticus Ross.

Elsewhere, whispers of a wild 1998 Vogue shoot at Jil Sander’s Hamburg villa pave the way for Hamish Bowles investigation into the designer’s uncharacteristically maximalist home; Lancashire-native Tom Heyes (aka ‘Blackhaine’) settles the score, opening up to Claire Koron Elat about the process behind his experimental soundscapes and ‘punishing’ choreography; across the pond in sunny Sacramento all five members of Deftones sit down with Cassidy George to discuss the band’s contemporary appeal; and the 032c ‘X-Files’ introduce the likes of The Hellp, Joanna Kuchta, Raf Simons, Bruce Weber, Toshikazu Kayano and Sara Choi.
