So I found a perfect activity on a day between hikes in Samaipata, visiting a local bodega where my friends and I learned how they grow grapes and produce wine and Singani, a Bolivian grape liquor. And it’s incredible that they are actually able to do it at an average altitude of 1750 meters.
After the vineyard and winery tour, we were so excited to do wine tasting. Yay! Everybody got to try three types of wine, and they were so good. Syrah rosé was my favorite.
I have to say, Bolivia’s wine industry is small compared to Argentina and Chile, but it’s been growing and even winning international awards.

On June 4th, 2023, I flew from Portland to Guadalajara, Mexico, and it’s been three years I have visited and lived in 13 countries in Latin America. I can’t believe that this is real, that I’m still continuing my journey to Patagonia. And right now, I’m in Bolivia. I’m volunteering in such a beautiful place. Look at this beauty around me.
