My journey as an artist started in 2005 at Sheridan College in Oakville, ON where I studied in the Crafts & Design program in the glass studio. I can’t say that it was love at first sight but after a few months it was true love between me and hot glass.
.
I spent four years at Sheridan, three as a student and one as a teaching assistant and while I was there I worked with glass in many forms be it glass blowing, hot sculpting, kiln casting, or flame-working.
.
I have learned so much about myself through being an artist and all of the ups and downs that have come with that. I definitely wouldn’t be the person I am today without art in my life.

2020 was a YEAR. It changed us, the world, in a way that nothing ever could. It changed the way we viewed the world, the way we lived, the way we connected. It made us realized that despite everything, the world isn't as small as it seemed. We were all in this together.
.
Here at Vendors of the World, it gave us a new perspective. We realized everyone is a vendor. Whether you are selling your art, or selling your skill, you are a vendor and we want to share your story. So many of us are lost, looking for guidance, and at the same time, so many of us figured it out, through trial and error. So, we want to connect you with everyone around you. Learn from them. Share your story. Be curious. After all, we ALL are vendors of the world and together, through sharing our stories, we can make the world smaller.♥️

I was born and raised in country Victoria, Australia. We have very hot dry summers and cold winters. The surrounding industries are orange juice, olive oil and wine. We have one of the largest wineries in Australia in the district, Lindemans.

I am in the middle of two brothers and two sisters, we all had a lot of fun growing up on a small hobby farm surrounded by 10 or so different types of animals. My mother and grandmother tried to teach me to sew when I was young, but I am one of those annoying people who like to do things themselves so I really learnt a lot better teaching myself. I would buy items, and unstitch them to work out how to put them back together, and once I knew how they worked, I could use them as a base for my own designs. I still cannot read a pattern to this day.
.
I am super lucky to be married to the most amazing guy who is very supportive and has even been known to help me with the cutting out stages of wholesale orders. (I have photographic evidence!) He also helps me out with packaging, and posting.
.
One of my main passions is traveling. I love seeing the world. Europe is my favorite, but I would also love to see South America and Antartica. In April, I am traveling with my husband and friends to Russia which will be very exciting. We spent 4 days there a year ago, but want to go back and experience it properly. I am trying to learn Russian so that I will be able to understand a little when I get there.

It's Wednesday. Hump Day. We all have those days. Sometimes we seem to be working so hard, but we don't see instantaneous results and we lose the motivation. For me, I have to actively think about my end goal and picture myself there and keep going. I have to find the "why". If your "why" isn't strong enough, your journey will be short. So, how do YOU keep yourself motivated??

I scratch build scale miniature dioramas out of anything and everything. I recycle materials to use them for my detailed scenes. I started creating dioramas when I realized that I don't need to buy it to make it. This was when I started experimenting with paper to see what I could make. Over the past 6 years I've learnt through trial and error how to create realistic art works in a diorama setting.
.
I started posting on Instagram with the name of 'Time Capsule Scratch Builder' which I later realized worked suitably for describing what my art work consisted of, simply a time capsule of a miniature piece of history, whether that be a small gate at the bottom of a garden, a famous flat door to an apartment or even a rally diorama, time capsule works. In 2017 I began my Etsy shop where I have sold a few of my smaller dioramas.
.
Along side this miniature adventure, I am currently training to be a teacher and so combining the two I can be very creative with both my thoughts and my opportunity to help others in the maker community young and old.

So, you have an idea. You go and buy your materials from the local craft store, and then you come back and you are like $80 short and you have enough material to make maybe two items. So, what do you do? My advice? Go online. Go to a craft store, see what materials you need and see if you can buy them online.
.
My favorites are createforless, orientaltrading, and even Amazon! Sometimes, you can even go to local farmers markets and garage sales to find the perfect unique pieces. I am curious. What do you use? Tag someone who you want to know where they buy their products from!

My name's Louie and I'm a professional hooker! 😉
.
I started to get super crafty in high school, found some crocheted stuff and thought, wait... you can make your own dolls? Like sculpting with yarn? THAT'S AWESOME! Then began making things for all my friends / girls I had crushes on. People started to catch wind of this weird crocheting dude so I started selling them to people around tow.
.
Then people wanted to learn how I made them so I started to write patterns and make tutorials, but it was hard to explain how I made stuff via text, so I went into video production. Then I started to do time-lapses of my work to get the attention of people who weren't crocheters, and at the end I would do a little stop-motion dance with the character, which got me into animation (I call it "Yarnimation"). Recently I started my first 'real' business called Club Crochet, a subscription service for hookers, to not only spread the knowledge of crocheting, but also hopefully one day use as a platform for other crochet designers and artists to get noticed and recognized!
