A four year old beauty with a tender heart who has known heartbreak. Her prior owners put her through a painful declawing and then brought her to a vet to be euthanized for absolutely no reason. Our rescue partner, intercepted, saved her sacred life and helped to transport her to our shelter.
When she arrived, the weight of the betrayal she experienced from her prior owners was still quite heavy. She hid. She watched. She was hyper vigilant.
So we simply met her right where she was. With soft, gentle voices. With patience. With daily reminders that she is safe and so very loved.
Slowly, Marie began to emerge out of hiding. First she perched on the blanket lined shelves, observing the world again.
She started showing more curiosity about all of us and has started to seek and respond to affection. And this week, for the very first time, she chose the window perch - settling in, watching the light and allowing herself to belong.
We are all deeply moved and inspired by Marie’s resilience, her willingness to trust and the stunning way she is blossoming every day.
Our dream for Marie is for her to find her forever home where there is infinite gentleness, unconditional love and a warm, light filled window.
