Por eso cobra tanta importancia ese gesto tan cálido, tan humano, tan amable, de quienes se paran donde otros siguen de largo. De quienes las observan con paciencia, se acercan con cuidado, las capturan sin hacerles daño y les liberan las patas de esos hilos que les roban movimiento, descanso y vida. En un mundo tan frío, ayudar así no es un detalle pequeño: es una forma de ternura valiente. Es recordar que todavía podemos mirar con compasión. Es devolverle un poco de dignidad a una vida que casi siempre queda fuera de foco.

No invadieron por voluntad propia.
El coipú está hoy en nuestros ríos porque el ser humano lo trajo cuando era rentable, cuando su piel valía dinero. Lo explotamos, lo criamos, lo transportamos… y cuando dejó de ser útil, lo abandonamos.
Nuestra irresponsabilidad abrió la puerta a lo que ahora llamamos “problema”.
Hoy, la solución que se está aplicando es la de siempre: trampas, capturas y muerte. Animales atrapados, perseguidos y eliminados por el simple hecho de intentar sobrevivir en un entorno al que nosotros los empujamos. Otra vez, ellos pagando las consecuencias de decisiones humanas.
El coipú no entiende de fronteras, ni de decretos, ni de errores históricos. Come, se reproduce y vive como cualquier otro ser vivo. No es culpable de estar aquí. Nosotros sí somos responsables de haberlo traído y de no haber gestionado el problema a tiempo y con ética.
Hablar de “control” no debería significar matar sin cuestionar. Existen alternativas: gestión preventiva, control reproductivo, investigación, coordinación real y medidas éticas que no conviertan la violencia en la única respuesta.
No todo vale.
No todo se justifica en nombre de la gestión.
No podemos seguir resolviendo nuestros errores a costa de la vida de otros.
Exigimos a un control ético de las especies invasoras, una gestión responsable y compasiva, y políticas que asuman la culpa donde corresponde: en el ser humano, no en el animal.
Porque sobrevivir no debería ser una condena a muerte.

These are not isolated “mistakes” — they reflect a system that treats constitutional protections as optional when the people affected are undocumented, Black, or brown.
Socially, the damage is profound. Entire communities are living under constant stress, children are afraid to go to school, and workers avoid hospitals, courts, and public services out of fear of deportation. Trust in institutions collapses when federal agents operate with impunity. The result is deeper polarization, normalized racism, and a society where some lives are clearly valued less than others.
In that context, it is not surprising to see the reappearance of groups invoking the legacy of the Black Panthers. Their return — focused on mutual aid, community defense, and visible resistance — reflects a historical pattern: when the state uses force to control marginalized populations, those communities organize to protect themselves. Whether one agrees with their methods or not, their resurgence is a warning sign of institutional failure.
This moment demands an anti-racist response: accountability for ICE, an end to mass detention and raids, and a rejection of Trumpist politics that thrive on fear and division. Safety does not come from terrorizing communities. Justice does not come from cages. Solidarity is the only way forward.
