Hopping on the 2016 trend. Had so much fun revisiting old photos. Definitely one of our favourite years when the kids were smaller and every little thing brought pure curiosity and joy. Manifesting that same energy for 2026.

Sharing one of our go-to spots in Richmond. I came across on social and after reading the Google reviews, we decided to bring the kids and we’re so glad we did. We ordered:
- Beef Noodle Soup (Original)
- Spanish Mackerel Fish Soup
- Deluxe Braised Pork on Rice
- Deep Fried Squid Tentacles
The noodle bowls may look small, but they’re actually super filling, definitely shareable. And everything came out to under $70, which honestly felt like a big win these days.
We’ll definitely be back… especially for those deep-fried squid tentacles! Everything was quite flavourful, so you might get a bit thirsty after!
Drop your favourite cheap but good eats below! I’d love to check out more local spots that don’t cost over $100 for a family meal.

We’ve heard so much about, so we finally checked it out! We went specifically for the dim sum + dessert.
Sometimes we’re craving dim sum but don’t want to sit down at a restaurant, this felt like a super convenient option. It’s frozen (not fresh), but definitely more affordable than dining in.
Here’s what we tried:
- Shrimp Dumplings
- Mini Chinese Liver Sausage Rolls
- Xiao Long Bao
- Deep Fried Milk (SO good)
- Sweet & Sour Pork with Pineapple
- BBQ Pork Buns
- Tapioca Pudding
They also have entrée dishes, nutritious soups, Ceylon black tea, and the famous — didn’t try those this time, but maybe next visit!
Overall, the dim sum was good, and reasonable pricing. Unfortunately, we didn’t love the sweet and sour pork. That said, I would recommend the Deep Fried Milk and Tapioca Pudding. We would go back just for those, and a few dim sums too.
Have you been? What do you usually get?

Happy Holidays - Merry Christmas - Vancouver Events - Christmas in Vancouver - Things to do in Vancouver
This weekend we had our girls’ Christmas party. These are friendships that go all the way back to elementary and high school, truly chosen family. Some of us are even godparents to each other’s kids.
When we started our yearly Christmas party, we kept gifts small… and over time it evolved into what we now call a “throw down.” I’ve never shared it on social before because I’m usually very focused on securing my gift!
We love each other deeply, but during a throw down things can get a little intense like accidental nail scratches, some pushing… all in good fun!
This year, with all the hype around the throw down, I had to capture mine on video to show you how we do it our way. Gifts are usually $5–$7, because it’s truly the thought (and the chaos) that counts.
So much laughter, so much love, and we always look forward to being together… but honestly, the throw downs are next level fun.
Have you tried a throw down before or would you try one this year?
Save and share this fun holiday trend with family and friends!
