昔の食卓の風景の記憶がよみがえるような
そんな懐かしさを湛える作品たち。

6月からのお知らせもできないままとなり、大変申し訳ありませんでした。
母のことでは、多くの皆さまからお気遣いや温かいお言葉をいただき、本当にありがとうございました。
一時は「一か月持つかどうか」と言われる状況でしたが、訪問診療の先生方、病院の皆さまのご尽力のおかげで、現在は在宅で穏やかに生活できるまでになりました。
まだ新しい介護の生活に慣れず、毎朝慌ただしく過ごしていますが、7月18日からのヤマノネ硝子さんの個展より、少しずつ始動してまいります。
本来6月に開催を予定しておりました谷井直人さんの個展は、やむを得ない事情により見送ることとなりました。楽しみにしてくださっていた皆さま、そして谷井さんには、ご迷惑とご心配をおかけしましたことを心よりお詫び申し上げます。時期を改め、あらためて作品をご覧いただける機会を設けたいと思っております。
また、特別企画としてご参加くださった柴川敏之さんには、常設営業のためにご展示いただいたにもかかわらず、多くの方にご覧いただく機会を十分につくることができず、申し訳なく思っております。
谷井さん、柴川さん、その折には温かいお言葉をかけてくださり、本当にありがとうございました。
ゆっくりではありますが、また皆さまに素敵な作品との出会いをお届けできるよう、一歩ずつ歩んでまいります。

見慣れた日用品を「41世紀に発掘された
現代の化石(出土品)」として提示する
美術家の柴川敏之さん。
柴川さんの展示会を初めて
拝見したのは2年前になります。
本来なら錆びるはずのないものも、
柴川さんの手で 2000年の時を
刻んだように目の前に出現します。
1つの層を100年と考え、小さなものにも
20層、年輪のように絵の具や素材を
重ねてあります。
器の店として20年きましたが、
大好きな柴川さんの現代アートを
20周年のこの機会にご覧いただく
ことにしました。
一年を通しての長い展示会です。
今回の中矢さんの個展では、
柴川さんの作品が交わる部分もあります。
木の自然な節や割れを個性として
見せてくれる中矢さんの作品とは
不思議に親和性が高く、その点も
面白く感じています。

見慣れた日用品を “化石（出土品）” へと変え、
「2000年後（＝41世紀）に発掘された現代社会」
を提示してきた美術家の柴川敏之さん。
スマートフォン、キューピー人形、玩具、
トロフィー、マスク、車椅子など…、
私たちの日常にあるモノは、自然災害や
人為的な災害によって土の中に埋もれる
ことで、未来の考古学者が出会う
「文明の痕跡」へと 姿を変えます。
その制作の原点には、今から約2000年前に
火山の大噴火によって一瞬で都市が埋没した
イタリアのポンペイとの出会いがあります。
突如消失した文化の痕跡は、いまを生きる
私たちの営みもまた、遠い未来から見れば
“発掘される存在” であることを静かに
示唆しています。
ギャラリー「ゆくり」の20周年という
節目にあたり、本企画では中庭の
シンボルツリーを2000年後の 「41世紀の木」に見立て、その中に様々な未来の化石たちが
出現します。
それは鳥たちが集う「止まり木」のように、
化石化した生き物の玩具たちが「ゆくり」の
シンボルツリーの中に生息し、遊びや
対話をしながら楽しんでいるかのようです。
「ゆくり」もまた、オープン以来
「止まり木」をコンセプトに人々が集う
ギャラリーを目指してきました。
樹木は、年輪を重ねながら時間を
内側に蓄えていく存在です。
その枝に宿る未来の化石たちは、
「いま」という時間を標本化するしるし。
それは、この場所が積み重ねてきた
20年の記憶を未来へと手渡す、
小さな “発掘物” でもあります。
また屋内では、柴川敏之さんの作品世界を
より深く感じていただける関連作品や書籍も
ご覧いただけます。
庭と室内、それぞれの空間を行き来しながら、
時間と記憶のレイヤーを体験して
いただけましたら幸いです。
過去を見つめることで現在を問い、
現在を化石にすることで未来を想像する。
本展は、「ゆくり」という場所に刻まれた時間と、 これから積み重なる未来とを静かに結びます。

美術家。1966年大阪府生まれ。
広島大学大学院修了。
学生時代から自ら絵具を作り被爆建物を モチーフに 絵画制作を行う。
イタリアのポンペイ遺跡など、突如消失した
文化の痕跡に触発され、
「2000年後から見た現代社会」
をテーマに制作を続ける。
ミュージアムをはじめ、歴史的建造物や
商店街など、 地域や場所にこだわった展覧会やプロジェクトを展開。 同時に多様な人々を対象にしたワークショップを行っている。
