〰️ The first thing I do when I enter this movement is not to set a position. The moment I connect with the suspension, I listen to how the load distributes through my body ✨

〰️ With my hands overhead, I’m not looking for a feeling of “working” in my arms.
On the contrary, I feel the upper extremity becoming lighter in the suspension and the load spreading from the shoulder into the axial line of the body💯
The scapula is not held in place; as the load increases,
depression, upward rotation, and posterior tilt organize themselves naturally at the scapulothoracic joint ☑️
The shoulder doesn’t compress, the neck doesn’t stiffen;
despite the support being overhead, a sense of expansion emerges through the trunk✨

〰️ I’m not trying to lift the lower extremity. I feel the leg lengthen through the information coming from the suspension 💯 As if the line is extending not from the hip joint but from the pelvis downward. During this lengthening, the pelvis doesn’t lock; it remains mobile enough to respond to frontal and transverse plane demands, yet organized enough not to lose control ☑️

〰️ The clearest sensation in the spine is that the lower back does not “take over” the movement ‼️
There is no gripping in the lumbar region but a calm ability to tolerate load. The thoracic spine contributes as much as needed; the movement isn’t taken from the low back, it’s distributed along the spine 💯
As this distribution becomes clearer, the breath naturally expands as well ✨

〰️ For me, control here is not about holding the body,
but about letting go of unnecessary intervention under load. My imagery is always the same:
the load coming from the suspension doesn’t compress the body, it spreads along the axial line and flows downward. ✨

〰️ That’s why, while performing this movement, I’m not thinking about which muscle is working.
The only question I’m asking is this: as the load changes,
can my body still remain organized ❓ 💯

〰️ As you try the movement, remember this:
instead of pulling, holding, or fixing,
observe how your body makes decisions under load ☑️

For me, control starts exactly here ✨‼️

The Art Of Control ✨

#utkudnyc #pilates #mendopilates #pilatesfit #theartofcontrol
Control is knowing what the body will do before the load arrives 💯‼️

〰️ In this movement, I’m not trying to hold a position.
I observe how the body responds as the load changes🎯On the support side, the scapula maintains scapulothoracic harmony through a combination of depression, upward rotation, and posterior tilt
under axial loading conditions. This allows the glenohumeral joint to avoid carrying the load locally,
letting the force distribute along the trunk line💫

〰️ I don’t fix the scapula. As the direction of the load changes, its placement adapts as well. The upper extremity doesn’t remain suspended; it becomes part of the axial line✨ The pelvis isn’t locked into a single neutral position. Under asymmetrical loading,
I maintain lumbopelvic balance that can adapt
to demands in the frontal and transverse planes 💯

〰️ As the lower extremity lengthens,
the resulting tensile force doesn’t accumulate in the lumbar segments. The lumbar region doesn’t produce movement;it tolerates the load and creates space for the thoracic spine ‼️
The thoracic spine participates in the movement without taking ownership of it. It engages segmentally, distributing the load along the spine rather than concentrating it in one point 💫

〰️ That’s why I don’t establish balance through muscular stiffness. Proprioceptive feedback, intersegmental harmony and timing are sufficient. 🎯

〰️ For me, control is not about holding the body but about the ability to remain in place as the load changes. ✨

Organization in the Split ✨

〰️ I’m in a split. But I’m not entering a position here. ☑️
I’m observing how my body stays organized under load as the range opens. ✨

〰️I’m working with the yellow spring 🟡 The lightest spring. As resistance decreases, muscular effort steps back and the timing and coordination decisions of the nervous system become much clearer 💯

〰️ I feel the contact of my foot with the ground.
As ground reaction forces travel upward through the lower extremity, the hip joint settles into its supporting role and the pelvis manages balance without locking. ☑️

〰️ As the legs open, the adductor group enters eccentric lengthening. This length doesn’t pull me into my lower back. The lumbar region doesn’t produce movement; it tolerates axial load and creates space for the thoracic segments. ✨

〰️ I feel the decision of my thoracic spine.
As the load shifts, sometimes rotation, sometimes flexion, sometimes extension is selected. 💫
But the movement is never taken from the lower back. ‼️

〰️ I’m especially aware of a very familiar reflex in the male body. As hip range increases, the lower back wants to step in. That’s where I pause. ☑️
With breath, contact, and timing, I keep the load exactly where it belongs. 💯

〰️ And right here, one thing becomes very clear:
When range increases, organization doesn’t have to decrease. ✨‼️

〰️ Thanks to Lucia for the idea of left thoracic rotation in the first video 🙏🏽☺️

It’s not about how strong the body is, but how intelligently it can organize itself. 🧠

〰️ When I work on the core, I’m not interested in holding the muscles at maximum. What I observe is how the center functions as a reference field while load and direction are constantly changing 🎯

〰️ In both flexion and lateral flexion, I don’t treat the spine as a single block. I maintain the relationship between segments and observe where axial load is produced and where it is tolerated ↔️

〰️ At this point, the core is not a place to “brace“
For me, it’s an organization center where information coming from the lower extremities and the ground
can be transferred upward through the spine
on time and without loss ✨

〰️ The mini ball doesn’t add resistance here. It increases sensory feedback. As pressure builds, the body’s reflex response becomes clear:
Do the superficial systems immediately take over or can I allow the deep abdominal structures to quietly regulate the movement? 🧠⏱️

〰️ In the male body, the core often stiffens early with the urge to produce strength.
What I’m interested in is something else: the nervous system’s ability to recognize load and maintain balance
without unnecessary muscular tension. ⚖️💫

〰️ That’s why core work is a testing ground for me.
It doesn’t show how strong I am but how intelligently my body can organize itself. ✨💯

〰️Thanks to Jean for the inspiration.Your perspective continues to shape how I approach movement. ✨

No Springs. No Noise. Only Control 💯

〰️ Today is my birthday 🎂🤩
I’m 41.

As I celebrate today, I’m once again in my favorite place:
on the Reformer ✨and as always, in plank 💯‼️

〰️ Doing plank without springs has always been special to me. When there’s no support, seeing what the body truly knows❓feeling how it stays organized under load…
That feeling is something I haven’t been able to let go of for years 💫

〰️ When the No Springs Challenge invitation came from Paula yesterday, there couldn’t have been a better companion for this birthday 🤩‼️
She’s someone who has always inspired me, nourishing me with her perspective and practice ✨💯
That’s why I wanted to respond to her by doing this practice. I sincerely thank her for the inspiration and the invitation ✨

〰️ My celebrations are a bit like this…
Through movement, through awareness 💫 and by listening to the body’s quiet knowledge ☑️

The Art of Control ✨💯‼️

#utkudnyc #contrology #reformerpilates #pilatesflow #pilatesstrong
The Movement Is Not the Same, The Principle Is ✨

〰️ I can’t explain what I’m doing in these two videos by naming an exercise. What interests me is not the movement itself, but the decisions the body makes before movement even appears. 💫

〰️ When support conditions change, I don’t stabilize the center. I treat the center not as a fixed structure but as a reference space where load can be organized. That’s why the pelvis doesn’t lock in place or tense up to “hold” neutral. It stays in dynamic stability, just enough to transmit force from the lower extremity upward. 💯

〰️ The spine works through a segmental hierarchy.
The lumbar region doesn’t generate movement; it tolerates load and creates space for the thoracic segments. The thoracic spine joins when needed never takes ownership of the movement. The movement is not taken from the lower back; it is distributed through the spine. ‼️

〰️ The same principle applies to the scapulothoracic region. The scapula is neither fixed nor released; it regulates the humerus relationship with load through timing. The goal is not to carry load but to make the load vector manageable. 💫

〰️ Here, control does not mean keeping muscles constantly engaged. Control is the nervous system’s ability to call the right information at the right moment,
to silence excess and avoid unnecessary strategies. 💯

〰️ That’s why the two videos don’t look the same.
The shape changes.
The direction changes.
But the principle remains the same: the body learns how to stay organized under uncertainty. ✨‼️

〰️ For me, this is what control means.
Not holding.
Not forcing.
But keeping the body intelligently organized while movement is happening. 💫

〰️ And this is a language I can only speak
when I truly live the movement. 💯✨

#utkudnyc #hipmobility #reformerpilates #contrologia #pilatesmen
Movement Is a Question I Ask the Body. ❓

〰️ These two series are not the same exercise.
But for me, they ask the same question. ❓

〰️ As support decreases, as the load changes direction,
how does my body organize itself? 💫

〰️ Here, I’m not interested in which muscle is working.
What I’m looking at is which information,
at what time, in which segment, comes forward. 💯

〰️ Over time, this has become clear to me:
Control is not about constantly holding the muscles;
it’s about being able to hold movement information in the body as much as needed and at the right moment. ✨
If my body has to constantly protect a certain area,
I don’t read that as safety ‼️ It tells me that the organization hasn’t distributed itself enough yet,
and the body has shifted into compensatory strategies.

〰️ That’s why, in these practices, I pay close attention to this:
Is my lower back producing movement?
Can my shoulder girdle carry load without locking?
Is my neck forced to take over the load? 💯

〰️ The value of a movement is not measured by how difficult it looks. It’s measured by the body’s ability
to remain itself as the load changes. ✨
I’m not forcing the movement.
I’m not trying to convince the body either.

〰️ I simply leave this question open:
As the load increases, can my body still listen? ❓💫
For me, this is exactly what control is.
It’s quiet. And it doesn’t fall apart. ✨‼️

#utkudnyc #contrology #plankvariations #advancedpilates #corestrengthtraining
Before anything else, I want to thank my friend Bola for this beautiful, intelligent set-up. ‼️💯✨
He wrote, “The lateral lean is not lateral flexion” and it describes exactly what I’m doing right now. ✨

〰️ Because what I’m doing in this moment is not a simple lateral flexion. As the load vector changes, I’m observing whether I can preserve my postural organization. 🎯

〰️ I’m establishing a neutral pelvis through the sit bones. I’m not locking the pelvis; I’m allowing just enough dynamic stability to transmit movement upward. 💫

As I lean sideways, I’m not letting the torso collapse as one block. The thoracic spine joins the movement,
the lumbar segments don’t generate, they tolerate load.
The lower back isn’t taking over; it’s creating space. ‼️

〰️ The cable is pulling my arm anteriorly. The shoulder wants to elevate, but it doesn’t go there. The scapula stays on the rib cage, guided by the serratus anterior and lower trapezius. This isn’t a moment of strength, it’s scapulothoracic control. 💯✨

〰️ As the long leg lifts, I’m not trying to lift the hip. The gluteus medius is holding the pelvis in the frontal plane,
the adductors aren’t gripping, they’re organizing balance. Whether the foot is on the ground or in the air,
the line can be transmitted from distal to proximal. 👣

〰️ Now I’m returning. And this is where I feel control even more clearly. Because control doesn’t show itself at the hardest moment but when the load decreases and the organization remains intact. 🎯‼️
