I started this blog 9 years ago to pass on the love of language and culture to the next generation ❤️ I loved doing in-person Urdu story time and as a way to expand the reach started doing a Live Urdu Story Time on in 2014 ❤️ This grew into a lovely community who joined us every Saturday morning and we did this story time for 6 years.
I share resources to pass on Urdu to children on including tips, books, videos, crafts etc.
Language is a gateway to culture and over the years has also taken on lifestyle, parenting, travel and recipe categories.
My blog has been featured on CTV News, BBC News, Breakfast Television, Alberta Prime Time, OMNI TV and Metro News for the representation of South Asian families in Canada. I’m a TEDx speaker on language and identity.
My Urdu story time has been featured on the Language Portal of Canada and the Newyork Public Library. I was selected as a CBC Changemaker for 2022 for working on the preservation of Urdu.
Another project I’m extremely proud of are Maktab’s online classes to pass on identity and culture through stories, art and conversations which started last year.
“Sadaf and Tamania Show” is a podcast on (started in 2021) where my friend Sadaf and I talk about challenges facing the modern Desi woman and how to improve ourselves.
As the kids grew older I decided to stop doing a live Urdu story time and start to build early Urdu language skills in children with songs and stories on
