We had the chance to catch up with Dalane Rabbit to talk about his hockey journey, representing his Nation, and his goals for the future.
Q: Where are you from and what Nation do you represent?
I’m from Lethbridge, Alberta and I represent the Piikani Nation.
Q: When did you first start playing hockey and who inspired you growing up?
I started playing hockey when I was about 3 years old, and growing up I was always a big fan of Patrick Kane.
Q: How has your experience been playing college hockey in Montana?
College hockey has been awesome. We have a lot of fans and Missoula is such a great place to live. The support from the fans here has been amazing.
Q: What are your goals moving forward?
My goal is to finish my degree by the end of my fourth year and eventually move back to Canada.
Q: What advice would you give to younger Indigenous athletes chasing their dreams?
My biggest advice would be to believe in yourself and have confidence. No one else is going to accomplish your goals except you.
Dalane continues to represent his Nation proudly while competing at the collegiate level and inspiring the next generation of Indigenous athletes.
