This is important to know because you want to know exactly what you’re looking for when you’re doing your own at home evaluation of your son’s testicles.
Before reading any further, save this post and share with boy moms (and dads) and follow me for continued information on testicular health and motherhood.
If your babies testicles haven’t dropped into the scrotum between 3 and 6m, they’re less likely to drop into their scrotum on their on and therefore, it is time to seek medical attention.
Ideally, you’d want to correct undescended testicles before your baby turns 12m because after 12m, baby boy is at risk of infertility issues in their adult life and have a greater risk of testicular cancer.
As parents, we want to be aware of what to look for in these cases to take preventative measures at all costs.
This is why I asked my son’s pediatrician during one of his visits to be absolutely certain: “Does my son have two healthy balls?”
But even then, you still want to continue to check your baby’s testicles throughout their development in the case of a retractile testicle which is when the reflex muscle pulls the babies testicles back into their groin area.
Although the risk factors aren’t as extreme as having an undescended testicle, it is still very important for the testicles to live inside the scrotum where it is cooler as the humans body temperature is too hot to store testicles which can ultimately damage the testicle and leave your son with a decrease of testosterone which is responsible for male features such as facial hair, muscles, voice, etc.
Parents, do me a favor. Ask yourself… does my son look like he has two healthy testicles? Does one look bigger than the other? Does his sack look tight, flat, or empty? Don’t be afraid to ask these questions at their next visit.

As a boy mama, it’s important to know what you’re looking for when changing your babies diapers and or just doing a usual check up.
A babies testicles should drop into their scrotum by the time a baby is 6 months. If they haven’t already descended by this time, it is unlikely that they will drop naturally and so it is best to get them professionally checked.
1. Undescended testicles is when the babies testicles haven’t moved down into the scrotum before birth. The earlier this is discovered, the better because it is best to get the surgery to bring the testicles down within the 1st twelve months of life. After 12 months, baby boy is at much higher risk of infertility in the future and testicular cancer.
2. Retractile testicle is when the testicle/s goes back up between the scrotum and groin due to having a hyperactive reflex muscle. Surgery may also be required to bring the testicle back into the scrotum but a retractile testicle does not have the same long term risks as undescended testicles even with getting the surgery after 12 months.
3. Testicles are not only responsible for storing sperm, but testosterone as well. If the testicles do not drop, the bodies natural temperature will kill the testes. This will prevent boys from growing masculine features like facial hair and muscles.
With all that being said, check your babies balls y’all!
