Crossing the Baltic Sea by human power alone: That is the goal of the TUD students from, who are currently building their ultralight aircraft, named “Prachtlibelle” (Splendid Dragonfly). 🪶 With this aircraft, they aim to set a new world record for the longest distance ever flown in an aircraft powered exclusively by human muscle power. The current record stands at 117 kilometers.
The ultralight aircraft has a wingspan of 34.5 meters and weighs less than 30 kilograms. The Odonata – Human Powered Aircraft team consists of 43 students from various disciplines who are putting their theoretical knowledge from their studies into practice. If the tests run successfully, they will attempt to break the record in Peenemünde later this year.

Das natürliche Verbreitungsgebiet der Baumheide erstreckt sich von den Bergen Zentral- und Ostafrikas (afro-alpine Lebensräume) über die Arabische Halbinsel bis nach Südeuropa, Nordwestafrika und auf die Kanarischen Inseln. A Pioneer in Bioelectronics: 🫀 Prof. Sahika Inal was awarded the Humboldt Professorship yesterday evening in Berlin by Federal Research Minister. TUD Dresden University of Technology and jointly nominated the internationally renowned organic bioelectronics scientist for the award.
Sahika Inal works at the intersection of materials science, biology and electronics. Her aim is to make functional polymer materials even more efficient and combine them with biological systems. 🧩 Amongst others, Inal developed organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) – highly-sensitive biosensors that are now an enabling technology in biomedical engineering and diagnostics.
With up to EUR 5 million in prize money, the Alexander von Humboldt Professorship is the most highly endowed research award in Germany.

Steinfugen und Mauerkronen sind spannende Lebensbereiche für verschiedenste Pflanzen 🌿🪨
Am 24. April 2026 durften wir gemeinsam mit dem Gartenbauer Frank Zimmerhäckel am Schloss Lauenstein im Osterzgebirge eine Trockenmauer bauen. Die vielfältigen Natursteine aus dem Bestand wurden von den Studierenden Stein für Stein zusammengesetzt – fast wie ein großes Puzzle.
Die Mauer wird einerseits aus denkmalpflegerischen Gründen wiederhergestellt und ist gleichzeitig ein gestalterischer Teil des neuen „essbaren Waldgartens“. 🌱🍎
Wir freuen uns, einen Beitrag zum Erhalt und zur Weiterentwicklung des Zukunftsgartens geleistet zu haben.
Die Übernachtung vor Ort mit Lagerfeuer, das leckere Mittagessen und natürlich der gemeinsame Workshop bleiben uns in bester Erinnerung! 🔥✨
