Tri-County Humane Society would like to give a big paws-up to the folks from North Risk Partners, St. Cloud! They volunteered to help us with bandana tie-dying; we'll use their craftiness for our Woofstock (Companion Walk for Animals) event on Sept. 26 at Wilson Park.

Did you miss our public microchip clinic last week? Tri-County Humane Society does microchipping by appointment for $20 plus tax all year-round at our shelter. Simply call to schedule!

Microchips are the only permanent form of pet identification. The chips are injected under the pet's skin and can be picked up by scanners to share contact information. It's important to keep your information associated with the chip updated!

The next low-cost public microchip clinic will be June 4 from 1:30-4:30 p.m. at Whitney Senior Center. The cost is $10 plus tax, and it's a walk-in clinic.

It's time for #SaturdaySpotlight, when we feature one of our hardworking volunteers and/or fosters. Today we're putting the spotlight on Traci Prewitt, who started volunteering for TCHS in November 2023. She mainly does shelter animal care, meaning she cares for and cleans up after the animals and helps customers. She is a mentor volunteer, too, training new volunteers. Let's hear from Traci:

What is your favorite part of volunteering? "I like helping where I’m needed. I especially like taking care of the dogs and cats. There is always something to do and tasks to take care of. I also like training volunteers."

What would you tell people about volunteering at TCHS? "I tell people there are lots of ways to help and contribute. I started in the laundry, then washing dishes, and now I mainly work with the dogs and cats. If you like to help animals, volunteering is a great way to start."

What's your favorite animal? "I like senior dogs the most. They always like treats, and they like their head scratches and chin rubs."

ID tags - don't leave TCHS without 'em!
For $5 plus tax, you can get your new (or old) pet's name and information engraved on a tag that's produced in just a few minutes in the TCHS Re-Tail Shoppe. We have a variety of shapes and colors available, and all the profits go back to our shelter.

Twitch has been waiting a bit for a home; we've knocked his adoption fee down to $100 in the hopes of getting him a second look.

Twitch is a 6-year-old chinchilla looking for a home. He can be shy around new people but is friendly and curious when comfortable! He lived with his parent chinchillas long ago and may be ready for a new friend. He also lived with a medium-sized dog and did well. Twitch loves his dust bath and running on his wheel.

Who doesn't love ramen - it's so affordable!

And now our Ramen is super budget-friendly - thanks to a generous donor, his adoption fee has been covered! (The adopter will still need to pay the administrative fee and tax.)

Ramen is a 1-year-old neutered cat who has been described as shy at first, but a playful boy once he warms up. He has been around other cats in the past and did well.

Rocky is the sweetest boy! Our volunteer dog walkers "argue" over who gets to walk him because he's such an easygoing pup.

We don't know a lot about this 8-year-old neutered mixed breed pup's history, but we do know he's lived with other dogs in the past and did well.

Kitten season is here! It's the busiest (but cutest) time of the year.

Here's how you can help TCHS be ready for all the littles:
* Consider signing up to foster! We often need fosters to care for pregnant moms, mom and kittens, and/or bottle baby kittens. TCHS provides the supplies for the animals; the foster home provides the care (and the love). We have paper applications at the shelter; otherwise, apply to foster at our website (link in bio).
* Check out our Virtual Kitten Shower on May 28-29! We'll be sharing kitten education, ways you can help TCHS kittens, and, of course, featuring plenty of cute kittens. Follow along on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.

How can you not love Pork Chop - he's such a ham!

Pork Chop, who is being held by TCHS staff member Jessica P., came to our shelter as a stray. This 2-year-old neutered cat is a big boy who loves to lounge around and soak up all the attention he can get.
