We stayed at Crowne Plaza Sydney Darling Harbour and loved being right near the Vivid lights, the Cockle Bay laser light show, and Tumbalong Nights.
The family-sized room worked so well for us, the buffet breakfast was such a win with kids, and they even had cute kid-friendly welcome packs waiting for us ✨
Their Stay & Glow Package also includes over $100 in added value including parking, cocktails for two, breakfast, glow goodies, and late checkout.
Such an easy and fun way to experience Vivid with kids.

Episode 8 of our Where to Stay with Kids series ✈️
We stayed at YOTELAIR Singapore Changi Airport after flying in late from Bangkok before an early flight home, and honestly the convenience was worth every cent.
The room was compact, but had everything we needed for one night:
• Double bed & bunk setup for the kids
• Bathroom to shower and reset
• Space to roll our luggage straight in
• A proper sleep before flying home
Sometimes when travelling as a family of five, you don’t need to overthink finding a huge luxe room. If it’s just for 1–2 nights, you really just need somewhere for everyone to comfortably lay their heads.
And if you’re doing an airport hotel anywhere… Singapore Changi Airport is THE airport to do it in 🙌

Absolutely not 😂
BUT here are my top 5 survival tips for flying with toddlers ✈️
Wear them OUT before boarding
Let them run laps around the airport. Climb. Jump. Go feral. This is not the time to conserve energy 😅
Delay the screens
Don’t pull them out straight away. Save them for when you really need them mid-flight.
Snacks. Then more snacks.
A hungry toddler on a plane is character building for everyone involved.
Rotate activities every 10–15 mins
Toddlers have the attention span of a goldfish. New activity, new snack, new distraction constantly 😂
Lower your expectations
The goal is not a peaceful flight. The goal is survival.
Our 3-year-old is currently in a STAGE and I already know this trip to South Korea will hit differently compared to travelling with our 8 and 7-year-olds now… but I’ll still never tell parents to wait until the “easy” stage to travel 🤍

Japan with kids travel tips | planning Japan with kids | family travel Japan itinerary | Tokyo with kids itinerary | where to stay in Japan with kids | Japan family friendly hotels | kid friendly Japan travel | budget travel Japan with kids | Japan travel tips for parents | family holidays Japan
Before you read on, make sure you are following ✨ I share realistic, family tested Japan itineraries so you can actually enjoy travelling with kids, not just survive it.
This itinerary is different. It is not a list pulled together from Google or a one time visit. I have been to Japan many times since the early 90's. More recently, I've been three times with babies, toddlers and kids, and I have learnt some hard lessons along the way. This plan is built from what worked, what absolutely did not, and what I wish I had known earlier.
It includes unique spots most people do not talk about, hands on experiences kids genuinely love, and most importantly everything is grouped by area so you are not zigzagging all over Tokyo all day with tired kids and overstimulated parents.
From calm starts at Shiba Park and Zojoji, to hidden gems like ComPaSS at the Science Museum, hours lost inside Yodobashi Akiba’s kids floor, rooftop batting cages, teamLab and KidZania in Toyosu, scenic rides on the Yurikamome Line, and finishing strong with neon Shinjuku highlights, this itinerary balances culture, chaos and calm in a way that actually works for families.
If you are extending your Japan trip, I have also created the perfect 12-day itinerary covering Osaka, Kyoto and Nagoya 🇯🇵✨
If you're wondering how long to spend around Osaka and Kyoto, then use this as your guide to pick what stands out most! We spent 2 weeks based just in Osaka and could have stayed even longer.
💬 Comment “OSAKA” and I will send you that itinerary.

New language. New systems. Big crowds. Little people.
But here’s what I wish someone had told me before our first trip:
👉 you don’t need to know everything to enjoy Japan as a family.
Some of our best days weren’t planned at all. They were supermarket dinners, train rides with snacks, wandering neighbourhoods, and letting the kids lead more than we thought we could. Japan rewards slowing down.
If you’re in the planning phase, these are the things I always point friends to:
• Suica cards for stress-free transport
• SmartEX app to lock in Shinkansen seats early
• Family-focused hotel chains (game changers with kids)
• Convenience stores + supermarkets for easy, affordable meals.
looks like a great business that arranges toddler essentials like nappies (diapers) and food to your hotel for your arrival.
