❄️Hansons Creek🌉

This is a moderate to challenging 7.5km out-and-back trail with roughly 250m of elevation change!

📍Whiteshell Provincial Park - Treaty No. 3

The trailhead is across the road from Bear Lake parking lot which is often plowed in the winter, and has an outhouse if needed!

Nicole, Lola and I were treated to bluebird skies which lead to absolutely stunning views along the trail. There is just something magical about a fresh dusting of ❄️ and ☀️ at the same time. The colors were just popping!

This is a connector trail to the but makes an absolutely BREATHTAKING day hike.

Of note there are some pretty steep climbs, a few boulders to hop over and I do generally recommend snowshoes with the current conditions.

“Movement is life!” -

And clearly you have all chosen to live your lives to the fullest! We’re so excited to share that that 8km, 25km, and 50km distances at Suffer On Centennial have all officially sold out. And there are now 100 people registered in the 100km race too. That’s over 540 total runners! Wow!

Spots are still open in the 100km (our province’s only point to point 100km race), and in the 100km relay, so there’s still time join us!

We can’t wait to be with you all in the Whiteshell in May. Tell your friends to come too! They can crew, volunteer, cheer, or run a really long way.

Thanks to all of our amazing partners and sponsors for Suffer On Centennial:!

This great video brought to you by!

❄️Another beautiful Manitoba winter adventure!🐺

Snowshoeing has for a long time been a favorite way to explore during the colder months. They allow us to see the places we love in summer, in a different light.

With the change of seasons, the trails take on a new vibe. More barren but every bit as beautiful. Hoar frost on the trees, a light dusting of snow.

A gray day can look gloomy, but when the skies turn blue… the sunlight adds a sparkle to the landscape that you just can’t find in the other seasons!

We absolutely love snowshoeing, what’s your favorite way to explore in the winter?

❄️If you choose not to find joy in snow, you will have less joy, but the same amount of snow❄️

Some wise words for us Manitoba folks!

Don’t find joy in snow?

🦬Sorry Manitoba, we cheated on you.🌾

Yesterday Nicole and I packed our Nordic skis and headed to the Saskatchewan Ducks to check out some new to us ⛷️ski trails, and they did not disappoint!

With over 50km of groomed classic trails, 9km of skate trails and 5 well stocked warm up shacks thanks to the Duck Mountain Nordic Club and the trail system is 👌🏼.

The terrain is mostly forested rolling hills, with many small lakes and LOTS OF SNOW!❄️ The views were gorgeous as well.

If you are looking for somewhere new to ski (both downhill and Nordic) consider Duck Mountain Provincial Park in Saskatchewan, it’s worth the trip!

🏃🏻‍♀️⛷️🚨PLEASE GIVE THIS A READ & SHARE🚨🚲🥾

‘Tis the season of winter trails! A little education and respect can go a LONG WAYS in keeping the trails in top form and keeping volunteers coming back to help maintain the trails. Without proper grooming and care the trails can be pretty miserable.

If you get don’t know if you should be on a winter trail DON’T GO! Plan ahead, look online, ask someone that might know. The information is all out there and easy to access in this day and age.

Of note if you see track set XC ski trails (the ones that look like two perfect ski tracks in the snow) please do NOT walk/run or ride on them at any point. This completely ruins the track and can make it challenging/dangerous to ski on.

Hope this is helpful and happy trails!

🌨️Bear Lake❄️

📍Treaty No. 3 - Whiteshell Provincial Park

Sometimes the cold and snow can suck the life out of you, but some days, like today it was so invigorating to get out on this Classic.

The trail was untracked but conditions were PERFECT for a snowshoe with enough snow that they made it more enjoyable but not so much it was a slog every step.

The trail itself is around 6km out and back with plenty of ups and downs along with a reasonable amount of signage in the trees for navigation.

The parking lot currently isn’t plowed, so you would need all wheel drive or there is a decent chance you would get stuck.

I’m so stoked for winter adventures in 2025/2026. Let it snow!❄️

Northern Manitoba WINTER WATERFALLS!

Another throwback to Dec. 12/21 while we visited Wekusko and Pisew Falls. Let’s say they did not disappoint.

🌲Karst Springs❄️

📍Iskwasum Campground, Treaty No. 5

Throwback to 2021 when my good friend Christian Baun and I did a “tour of the north” which turned out being an absolutely amazing experience snowshoeing a number of trails in northern Manitoba.

Karst Springs was phenomenal. While the road isn’t plowed, it made for a beautiful snowshoe breaking fresh tracks.

The entire route was a 5km loop starting from the highway. Otherwise the video speaks for itself. 😍

Have you ever hiked or snowshoed Karst Springs?
