An espresso tonic is imo the ABSOLUTE BEST summer drink and I’m so happy it’s warm out so I can start making them again 🌞 Here are my pro tips for making one that’s cafe-quality at home:
💛 get the right tonic!!! is WORLDS better than Schweppes or no-name and you WILL taste a difference (no Fevertree is not sponsoring me this is just something I’m very passionate about). And PLEASE do not use soda water I am BEGGING YOU that just tastes BAD 😩
☕️ use coffee that’s a lil fruity! I’m using In Bloom Espresso (again, not sponsored) and since it’s naturally a bit sweet, it works perfectly.
🧊 add lots of ice!! You want it to stay nice and cold without getting watery so pour the tonic first and then the espresso.
☕️ use espresso! This is not the kind of drink that will be as good with brewed coffee since you want a certain flavour concentration. I’ve been using my Luxe Cafe Premier (gifted but with no obligation to post) for the last few months to brew espresso-based drinks, and it makes everything so smooth and easy 💖 (lmk if yall want a full honest review at some point too!)

1. - grab a coffee to start a day of walking
2. - loved the space, get a pourover
3. - another lovely space to sit and people watch
4. - long lines on weekends but tasty pastries and coffee
5. - has a couple of locations, tasty flavoured lattes
6. - get a sweet Einspanner and sit in Bryant Park
7. - had just opened when I was there! Delicious drip coffee
8. - pandan latte!!! Their Vietnamese coffee looked delicious too
9. - chain that also has delicious matcha
10. - also a chain, lovely espresso

Had an amazing brunch with & at - the food and chats were both so good that I started to take a reel and forgot 😜 but take it from me yall the Harak Osbao (sweet & sour lentil stew) was >>> and you should go ASAP!!!
and I got tickets over a year ago so it felt more like something out of my wildest dreams than real life for the longest time - now that it’s happened, I STILL wasn’t ready for it. I’ve loved her music for so long that hearing all of the different albums really was like going through different eras of my life - I didn’t look up the setlist and had the time of my life being surprised by all the memories that came up (so many fade, but her music is still here!).
I also felt like the lucky one to get to be part of something that everyone was really excited about 🥺 all my girlies were so dressed up with their sequins smiles and red lipstick and tight little skirts!!! After having such a great time I’m down bad crying at the gym - I just wanna stay in that lavender haze of great music and great times 🥹💜 Are you going to the Eras Tour?
For those of you who aren’t coffee nerds, a cupping is when a variety of coffees are brewed very simply side by side so that they can be sampled. It’s the way roasters and cafes will also try out the different coffees they want to offer, since it’s the easiest and most consistent way to brew!
I’ve attended one in the past (and have tried doing it at home to sample the coffees I buy too) but wanted to attend one to refresh my coffee knowledge 👀 Subtext offers monthly cuppings, run by, to showcase the coffees they currently have on offer and educate attendees about them, as well as about the coffee production process generally. I enjoyed sampling their coffees to get a better idea of which producers and regions I should keep an eye out for when buying my next bag ☕️ if it’s something you’re interested in checking out, the next one is happening on Saturday Dec 7th!
